Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Raphael Cruz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joey Lozada (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Lozada's choice of entrance music: Im still fly. Raphael Cruz has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Raphael Cruz! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Joey Lozada! The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, John Kavanagh and Reed Andrews.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cruz scores a takedown into full mount! Cruz tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Cruz tries to control but Lozada wriggling away. Lozada gets back to half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cruz wants to pass to mount but Lozada is defending the position. Cruz decides to return to a standing position. Cruz shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Cruz tries to pass to full mount but Lozada defends it. Cruz wants to stand but Lozada has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Cruz performing his best blanket impression for a moment. Cruz trying to pass the guard but Lozada defending well. Cruz is working hard here to advance position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Cruz controlling the action here. Cruz seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Lozada is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Cruz's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Cruz's back! The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Lozada is throwing punches to the body, looking to soften Cruz up.
Cruz is trying to break free.
Lozada throws a big right hand but he misses and hits the mat. Ouch.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Cruz manages to escape to his feet. Cruz bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Cruz is breathing heavily. Cruz taking a breather here. Lozada misses with a strike from the bottom. Lozada is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Cruz's leg. He's managed it. Nice work. The referee calls for the fighters to work.

Raphael Cruz dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Lozada looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Cruz is looking to control Lozada's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Cruz avoid being mounted? Cruz knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Lozada on the ground. Cruz tries to get to full guard but Lozada has control of the leg. Ground and pound from Lozada. Cruz is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Cruz is looking to control Lozada's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Cruz avoid being mounted?
That's one minute gone in the round. Lozada working Cruz over with strikes. Cruz on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Cruz tries to get out of the position. Cruz has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Lozada is working away from the top position though. Cruz wants to get back to full guard. Cruz taking some punishment here, with Lozada in his half guard. Lozada seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Cruz is controlling Lozada's trapped leg to prevent Lozada from advancing to side control. Lozada works his way into full mount!

Cruz wants to control but Lozada is having none of it. Cruz is working to get back to half guard.

Lozada lands a nice shot to the head. Joey Lozada has got the better of the ground game so far. Lozada working away from the top, dropping strikes.

Cruz wants to control but Lozada is having none of it. Cruz can't escape the position.
Cruz tries to lock up and control but Lozada gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Lozada is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Cruz can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Cruz is looking to get to half guard. Cruz wants to hold on but Lozada pushes him away.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
The referee stands the fighters back up. Raphael Cruz just wasn't active enough from the dominant position. Lozada with a lazy takedown attempt and Cruz counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Cruz. Lozada is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Cruz is aware though and is defending well. Lozada is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Cruz wants to pass the guard but Lozada is keeping the position. Lozada throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Cruz postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Joey Lozada showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. And we move into the final round!
Cruz gets a takedown into half guard. Lozada looking for submissions off his back. Cruz seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Lozada does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Cruz with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. Lozada takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Cruz is looking to pass Lozada's guard but actually Lozada recovers to full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cruz stays in close to Lozada's body and controls the position. Cruz loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Lozada keeping moving, preventing Cruz from controlling successfully.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Lozada keeping full guard, as Cruz tries to pass. Cruz controlling from the top position. Cruz cracks Lozada with a solid left hand. Lozada keeping moving, preventing Cruz from controlling successfully.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Cruz drops back, looking for a kneebar! Lozada looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Lozada looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Lozada! Lozada working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Cruz is trying to control Lozada's posture but Lozada avoids it. Cruz is trying to get back to half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Cruz manages to get back to half guard. Cruz is trying to maintain the position but Lozada is very close to passing his half guard. Lozada is looking to stall here but Cruz recovers full guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Lozada preventing the sweep. Cruz is trying to control the position but Lozada postures up. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Cruz is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Lozada is aware though and is defending well. Lozada landing with the ground and pound. Cruz not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
And that's the end of the fight! Raphael Cruz showed his dominance in that final round. Well Cruz has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
