The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Norris tries to clinch up but Johnson circles away and keeps his distance. A swing and a miss from Norris. Norris lands with a cross. Norris tries to clinch up. Norris is looking to clinch. Norris connects with a solid leg kick. Norris tries to clinch but Johnson is having none of it. Johnson keeps the fight on the outside. Norris tries to close the distance and clinch up but Johnson swats him away and circles back towards the center. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Norris looks to land a left hand but Johnson moved out of range nicely. Johnson blocks a head kick by Norris.

That's one minute gone in the round. Johnson throws a nice looking combination but Norris bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Johnson displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Norris throws out the jab. Norris tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Johnson takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor. No luck for Norris with that takedown attempt. Norris has a takedown stuffed. Johnson paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.

Norris tries to close the distance and clinch but Johnson swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Norris throws a lazy right hand but Johnson sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Johnson avoids the head kick by Norris.
Norris throws a solid leg kick but Johnson takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Norris. Norris tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Johnson paws at him with a jab and circles away. Johnson circles away from the clinch attempt.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Norris scores with the left hand. Johnson knows he should have avoided that one. Norris slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range. Boris Norris seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Johnson misses with a few strikes there.

Johnson has picked Norris up - he's going for a ride! Johnson dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard. Johnson is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. Johnson scores with a couple of good hammerfists. Johnson takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Norris has hold of Johnson's hands but Johnson slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Norris wants to get back to his feet. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Johnson looks to score some points with some ground and pound. Norris is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Johnson's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Johnson's back! Johnson breaks Norris's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.

Johnson scores with a one two! Norris had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes. Norris lands with a nice body punch. Norris scores with a nice head shot. Johnson changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Norris looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Johnson lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face. Johnson cracks Norris with an elbow. That is naaassty. Johnson working the ground and pound but Norris is defending the strikes. Norris is trying to control Johnson's posture but Johnson avoids it. Johnson advances to full mount. Norris wants to control but Johnson is having none of it. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Norris manages to regain half guard. Good work. Johnson thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Johnson sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Norris defending well though. Norris is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Johnson pulls his head out easily. Norris actively working from the bottom here. Johnson prevents Norris from improving his position. Norris trying to control from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Norris could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Norris tries to clinch but fails miserably and Norris takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Norris clinches but Johnson breaks the clinch and Johnson counters with a left and a right that stings Norris. Nice defenses there by Johnson.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Johnson circles away from the clinch attempt and Johnson counters with a one-two to the body. Johnson shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Norris as he jumps to the side. Norris tries to clinch and Johnson counters with a two punch combo. Boris Norris is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Norris lands with a slapping head kick. Norris lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Johnson at a distance.
Nice straight punches there by Norris. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Norris.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Norris tries to clinch but fails miserably and Johnson counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Johnson. Norris is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Johnson has hold of one of Norris's legs. Norris is fighting the takedown attempt but Johnson gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard. Johnson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Norris. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Johnson stands over his opponent and dives in with a flying punch! Norris throws up his legs and catches Johnson in a triangle! Oh this looks tight! Johnson tries to escape but he's forced to tap! Wow, fantastic work there by Norris! That came out of nowhere!
