Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Big Joe!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Butter Fly!
The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Jorge Garcia and Alyssa Summers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Joe throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Fly's waist but Fly gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Joe off to one side.

Fly gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Fly should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Fly has his foot on Joe's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Joe works his way back into a safe position though.
Joe wanted to stand there but Fly had control of the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Joe avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Joe got a little sloppy there for a moment and Fly has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Joe has managed to get both his arms back between Fly's legs - danger averted.

Joe drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Joe jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Fly working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Joe doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Joe manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Fly is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Joe has his hands clasped together but Fly extends an breaks Joe's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Fly.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:04 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Butter Fly!
