And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Gwen Towbar and Tiny Johnson.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
tyler with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Pires to score with a decent uppercut.

It looks like jake tyler has been cut.
Pires tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but tyler was well out of range. Poor timing from Pires.

Pires closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
tyler tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Pires smiles and moves away.
Pires throws a right hand that tyler ducks under and follows up with a left that tyler also avoids with ease.
tyler looks for a takedown but Pires sprawls well.

tyler throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Pires was covering up waiting for the punch and tyler finishes the takedown easily into guard.
tyler throws a big right hand that misses.
tyler content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
tyler connects with a couple of short punches.
Pires wants to get back to his feet but tyler is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

tyler drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and tyler jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Pires can do anything to dispel that myth.
tyler trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

tyler trying to control but Pires is working from the bottom.
tyler throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
tyler missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

tyler throws a big right hand that misses.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Pires connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
tyler fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Pires avoids it really well and circles away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for jake tyler. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Pires lands a nice looking body shot.
tyler is breathing heavily.
Pires fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. tyler looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Pires scores with a jab. tyler acknowledges it with a nod of the head.

Pires lands a jab followed by a vicious hook that sends tyler sprawling to the canvas. Pires follows him down, looking for the kill. Can tyler hang on?

tyler is rocked!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Pires stands up from half guard.
Oh tyler is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Pires grits his teeth and throws a big right-left combo! tyler takes both shots clean on the chin and is out cold! Pires cracks him once more on his way down, as the crowd goes wild! They enjoyed that one!
