Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Roy Nelson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jeremiah Wood!
The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Joseph Jones and Chad Campbell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wood is looking to clinch.

Wood shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

Wood stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.

Wood closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Nelson to the mat! Nelson manages to get full guard.

Nelson looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Nelson looking for a guillotine here but Wood defends easily.
Wood would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Nelson has an active guard here but Wood has managed to pass into half guard.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Wood is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Wood decides to stand and escape the position.
Wood rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Nelson moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Wood looks to land a left hand but Nelson moved out of range nicely.
Nelson lands the left hand.
Wood takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Nelson is looking to score with low kicks.
Nelson motions for Wood to come forward. Nelson throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Wood uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Nelson.
Wood shoots in but Nelson avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Nelson lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Wood fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Nelson avoids it really well and circles away.
Wood uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Nelson.

Wood shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
The fighters are battling for position here. Nelson manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

Nelson looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Wood gets to his feet. Nelson looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Nelson changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
The fight stays on the outside here - Wood looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Wood misses with a double jab.
Nelson scores with a shot to the body.
Wood throws a jab but it's blocked by Nelson.

Wood shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Nelson napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Wood looks gassed!
Nelson sneaks back into half guard.

Wood tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Nelson.
Nelson moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Wood is looking to stand up but Nelson won't let him.

Nelson is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Nelson is looking for a triangle but Wood pushes his legs off easily.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Nelson is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Wood is aware though and is defending well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Roy Nelson dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Wood tries to clinch but Nelson moves out of range.
Wood ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Wood slips under a jab.
Wood shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Nelson as he jumps to the side.

Wood feints and as Nelson raises his hands in defense, Wood changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Nelson is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Wood tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
Nelson seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Wood really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Nelson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Wood tries to get to full guard but Nelson has control of the leg.
Wood is breathing heavily.

Nelson is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Nelson is looking for a kimura here.

Nelson seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Wood is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
