PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Matt Hughes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Antonio Montazelli (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hughes comes into the arena with A Country Boy Can Survive blaring out of the sound system. Antonio Montazelli will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hughes fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Montazelli sprawls well initially but Hughes persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Hughes stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Montazelli swivels though and keeps the full guard.

That was a close round but I would say that Matt Hughes will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Montazelli drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Hughes manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Montazelli has Hughes in his guard.
Montazelli can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Hughes controls the pace.

Montazelli had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Hughes is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Montazelli Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Hughes's back instead.

Montazelli is looking for the choke from the back position but Hughes is controlling his hands well.
Hughes needs to remain patient if he's going to get out of this sticky situation.

Montazelli looking to break Hughes's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Hughes remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Montazelli will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!
