Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Rick Slick (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Young (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Young's choice of entrance music: Dont Sweat The Technique. James Young is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Rick Slick! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, James Young! The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Dillan Fox and Gregory Folan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Slick blocks the body kick.
Young is looking to score with low kicks. Young defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Slick. Young gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Young scores with a nice hook to the head. Slick drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Slick tightens his grip and picks Young up, before dumping him to the ground. Young manages to land in guard. Slick postures up in Young's guard and throws a big left but Young blocks it. Slick might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Young had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Slick defends it easily. Young is looking for a triangle but Slick pushes his legs off easily.
Young has his foot on Slick's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Slick works his way back into a safe position though. Slick wants to control from the top but Young keeps moving. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Young not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
That's one minute gone in the round. Young manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Slick tries to get back to half guard but can't. Young is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Slick has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Slick! Young is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Slick throws a big right hand that misses. Young is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Young trying to keep a closed guard but Slick is proving a slippery customer.
Slick trying to control the position from guard on top but Young is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Slick has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Slick postures up in Young's guard and throws a big left but Young blocks it. Slick trying to control but Young is working from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Young preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Young keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rick Slick. That's going to take a lot out of him. Young goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo. Slick shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Young as he jumps to the side. Slick will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Slick tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Young swivels and escapes. Slick is breathing heavily. Slick avoids the head kick by Young.
Young lands with a kick to the temple. Slick shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?" Young tries to clinch up. Young is looking to clinch but Slick is avoiding it.
Slick throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Young was covering up waiting for the punch and Slick finishes the takedown easily into guard. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Young controls Slick momentarily but Slick frees himself.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Slick trying to control but Young is working from the bottom. Young trying to keep a closed guard but Slick is proving a slippery customer.

That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Slick is sitting in close to Young's body. Young has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Slick is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Slick is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Young.
