Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Raul Hughes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Desean Waters!
The judges for this bout are , Jack Bonds and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hughes misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Hughes looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Hughes looks to land a combination but Waters avoids it well.
Waters tries to clinch but Hughes is having none of it.
Waters shoots in for a takedown but Hughes shows good takedown defense.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Waters.
Waters shoots in but no luck this time.
Raul Hughes has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Desean Waters.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hughes is looking to land body kicks.
Hughes misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Waters shoots in and bounces Hughes off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Hughes wants to get back to his feet but Waters passes into half guard.

Waters controlling the pace.
Waters prevents Hughes from standing back up.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Waters is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Hughes keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Waters frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Waters controlling from mount.
Waters tries to push Hughes's head away but Hughes is holding on tight.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Waters is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Hughes can't stay in a position like this for much longer.


It looks like Raul Hughes has been cut.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Waters working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.

Waters is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet!

Waters changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Hughes looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Hughes taking punishment in the form of punches.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Desean Waters dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Raul Hughes's cut.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Waters closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Waters lands in his opponent's guard.


Raul Hughes's cut is getting worse.

Waters stands and steps away. Hughes gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Hughes knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Waters on the ground.

Waters pushes down on Hughes's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Waters stands up out of the half guard.
No joy there for Hughes, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Hughes misses with a jab, cross combination.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Waters throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Waters shoots in but no luck this time.
Hughes fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Waters gets the takedown into side control.
Waters wants to lay and pray for a moment but Hughes keeps working.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Waters misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Hughes trying to remain calm as Waters controls from the top position.
Desean Waters has got the better of the ground game so far.

Waters has an Americana. Hughes didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Waters is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Waters hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
