Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Gerard Mullins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marko Ronni (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Gerard Mullins! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Marko Ronni! The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Bruno Hogan and Winston Howard.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ronni tries to clinch up. Mullins darts in trying to clinch and Ronni counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Ronni is looking to stall here but Mullins recovers full guard. Mullins wants to sweep but no luck. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Ronni throws a strike but Mullins rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Mullins wants to pass the guard but Ronni is keeping the position. Mullins won't allow Ronni to sweep him here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mullins controlling from the top position. Mullins stands and steps away. Ronni gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Ronni pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Mullins doesn't succeed with the takedown and Ronni counters with a two punch combo. Ronni misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Ronni closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Ronni not doing much here.
Ronni is pressing down on Mullins's thigh, looking to free his foot. Mullins is holding on for now.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ronni sitting and controlling from the half guard. Mullins wants to control but Ronni is keeping busy and won't allow it. Ronni really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Mullins. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Ronni wants to take a breather but Mullins is having none of it. Ronni is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Mullins sees it coming and defends easily.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mullins slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Ronni stopping the sweep attempt from Mullins. Mullins has control of Ronni's left arm, preventing Ronni from doing any damage. Ronni must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Ronni trying to control but Mullins is working from the bottom. Ronni sitting in guard, not really doing much.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Ronni trying to control but Mullins is working from the bottom. Ronni might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Mullins kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. Ronni looking to sit in guard and control but Mullins gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Despite being in the dominant position, Marko Ronni just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Ronni lands a lovely overhand right. Mullins swats away the attempt to clinch by Ronni. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Marko Ronni dominated that round. That's time! Mullins's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Ronni gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. A nice glancing elbow lands by Mullins. Ronni tries to score a body lock takedown but Mullins shows good agility there to stay on his feet. Ronni stalls. Ronni pulls guard successfully.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Ronni pulls Mullins in close to prevent any damage. Mullins trying to control but Ronni is working from the bottom.

Mullins wants to stand but Ronni has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Ronni looking for subs off his back but Mullins has passed one foot through into half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Ronni is defending against the submission attempts here by Mullins.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Ronni is looking to improve his position.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Mullins trying to control the action but Ronni is working from the bottom. Ronni trying to control but Mullins postures up.
Ronni wants to get back to full guard. Ronni is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Mullins scores with a couple of nice shots. Mullins thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Mullins prevents Ronni from improving his position.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Ronni looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Mullins! Ronni controlling his opponent.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Mullins tries to hold on but Ronni postures up. Ronni won't let Mullins get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now. Ronni punching from mount but Mullins doing a good job of avoiding damage. Ronni controlling the pace for now. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Ronni jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Mullins is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Mullins and Ronni has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Marko Ronni showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!
Ronni darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Ronni is trying to control the action in half guard but Mullins is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Ronni not doing much here.

That's one minute gone in the round. Ronni not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Mullins wants to stand but Ronni is controlling the position. Ronni pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Mullins is keeping the position for now. Ronni is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Mullins is trying to control the position but Ronni postures up. Ronni tries to free his leg and advance position but Mullins is retaining full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Ronni throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Ronni is looking to work some ground and pound but Mullins has wrist control.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Mullins misses with a combination
and Ronni counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. Ronni feints and as Mullins raises his hands in defense, Ronni changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Ronni trying to control but Mullins is working from the bottom. Ronni showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Mullins is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ronni wanted to stand there but Mullins had control of the position. Ronni slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Ronni throws a big right hand that misses.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Ronni pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Ronni rushes Mullins and presses him up against the cage. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Ronni jumps into guard, dragging Mullins to the mat.
Ronni is trying to hold Mullins in close to prevent damage but Mullins has managed to pass into half guard.
Gerard Mullins has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Marko Ronni is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Mullins in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Ronni tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Mullins!
