Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Paul Pungspark (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Shotton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Paul Pungspark! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, James Shotton! The judges for this bout are William Gold, Paul Tew and James Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Shotton darts in and clinches Pungspark up against the cage. Pungspark manages to pull guard.
Pungspark tries to land a sweep but no joy. Pungspark is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Pungspark has a closed guard, preventing Shotton from standing up. Shotton drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Pungspark manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Shotton has Pungspark in his guard. Shotton is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Pungspark wants to control from the top but Shotton keeps moving. Pungspark wants to pass the guard but Shotton is keeping the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pungspark drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Pungspark jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Pungspark trying to control the position from guard on top but Shotton is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Pungspark is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Shotton is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Shotton has escaped and now he's on top! Shotton preventing the sweep. Shotton throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Pungspark works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Pungspark looking to control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Pungspark keeping full guard, as Shotton tries to pass. Shotton sitting in guard, not really doing much. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Pungspark working a defensive guard here.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Pungspark misses with a wild body shot. Shotton is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Pungspark's half guard. Pungspark is breathing heavily. Shotton trying to control from half guard but Pungspark is working away.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Shotton drops an elbow to the side of Pungspark's head. Pungspark is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Shotton is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Pungspark defends it well. Pungspark has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Shotton is working away from the top position though. Shotton throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Shotton not doing much here.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Pungspark trying to control here.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Shotton bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Pungspark can't do much from the bottom here. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Shotton in side control, just content to control the action for now. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Pungspark tries to bench press Shotton off him but Shotton keeps the position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Pungspark tries to keep at a distance but Shotton has taken the fight into the clinch. Shotton escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

The fighters roll with the hold and Pungspark manages to kick Shotton off! Shotton jumps back into Pungspark's guard. Pungspark keeping full guard, as Shotton tries to pass. Shotton wants to get up but he can't break Pungspark's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Pungspark is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. Shotton wants to control from the top but Pungspark keeps moving. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

James Shotton showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!
Shotton closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Pungspark to the mat! Pungspark manages to get full guard. Shotton won't allow Pungspark to sweep him here. Shotton throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Pungspark looking to control.
Shotton advances to half guard. Shotton postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Pungspark to stand up. Shotton looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Shotton sitting and controlling from the half guard. Pungspark trying to control from the bottom.

That's one minute gone in the round. Pungspark has hold of Shotton's hands but Shotton slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Shotton connects with a nice short shot to Pungspark's temple. Shotton looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Shotton throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Shotton working to pass to mount. He's got his hand pressing down on Pungspark's thigh. Pungspark counters though and makes it back to full guard. Shotton wants to stand but Pungspark has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Pungspark not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Pungspark throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Shotton lands a nice leg kick that just misses Pungspark's sensitive parts. Shotton fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Pungspark sprawls well initially but Shotton persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Shotton seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Shotton is pressing down on Pungspark's thigh, looking to free his foot. Pungspark is holding on for now. Pungspark is trying to get back to full guard. Pungspark wants to control but Shotton is keeping busy.

Paul Pungspark has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! James Shotton is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Shotton wants to control from the top but Pungspark keeps moving.
And that's the end of the fight! James Shotton comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Shotton has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
