Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Thiago Souza (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jon Loeffler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Chris Downing and Wesley Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Souza darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Souza lands with a shot to the body.
Souza dives in and grabs Loeffler's left leg, looking for a takedown. Loeffler pushes down on Souza's head and hops out.
Souza wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
A right-left combo lands from Souza.
Loeffler takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Souza scoring well with a low kick there.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
A head kick misses from Loeffler.

The fight stays on the outside here - Loeffler looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Souza looks to land a combination but Loeffler avoids it well.
Souza dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Loeffler. That did some damage!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Souza is looking to escape.
Loeffler throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Souza is looking for a sweep. Loeffler is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

and Loeffler counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Loeffler.

Loeffler would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Loeffler accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Loeffler stops Souza from standing up.
Loeffler tries to free his leg and advance position but Souza is retaining full guard.
Loeffler prevents Souza from getting back to his feet.
Loeffler is looking to work some ground and pound but Souza has wrist control.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Loeffler on the wrong end of a nice hook.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Souza cracks the inside of Loeffler's front leg.
Souza throws a head kick that half lands.

Souza closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Souza is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Souza wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Loeffler has him pressed against the cage.
Souza manages to break the clinch.
Souza lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Loeffler backs up against the cage.
Loeffler closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Souza throws a quick inside leg kick.
Loeffler takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
Souza tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Souza swats away the attempt to clinch by Loeffler.
Loeffler misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Loeffler has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Loeffler there as he acknowledges the shot.
Souza dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Loeffler. That did some damage!

Souza keeps Loeffler at a distance using the push kick.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Loeffler looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Souza ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Souza scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Loeffler is rocked!
A chopping leg kick lands by Souza.
Loeffler is still on wobbly legs! Can Souza finish him?
Souza closes the distance and lands a vicious right hand that drops Loeffler! Souza dives in looking to finish! Loeffler is still trying to defend himself but he's taking too many shots and the referee has no choice but to stop the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:40 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Thiago Souza!
