Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between John Colon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Royce Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gracie has chosen orion as his entrance music. John Colon has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Colon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Royce Gracie!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Frank Dennis and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Colon pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Gracie tries for a takedown but Colon sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Colon throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Gracie.

Colon shoots in and bounces Gracie off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Colon decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Gracie, up you get!
Colon fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Colon fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Gracie sprawls well initially but Colon persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Colon is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Gracie defends it well.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Gracie looking for a guillotine here but Colon defends easily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Gracie not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Colon is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Gracie is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Colon is aware though and is defending well.

Colon drops back looking for a leg! Gracie is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Gracie manages to kick Colon off! Colon jumps back into Gracie's guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

and Colon counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Gracie's guard now.

Gracie is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Colon defends well.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Colon lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Gracie circles away quickly and effectively.
It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Colon here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.
