PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sean Daley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tairy Greene (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Daley comes to the cage accompanied by One of a Kind - Atmosphere. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Sean Daley!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Tairy Greene!
The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Bruno Hogan and Hugh Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Greene changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Daley looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Greene creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Daley sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Greene is looking to take a break and control but Daley is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Greene tries to move to mount but Daley blocks the move with his legs.
Greene taking a break here but Daley is having none of it and regains half guard.
Daley gets full guard.
Daley is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Greene is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Daley wants to control but Greene is keeping busy.

Greene tries to pass the half guard into mount. Daley knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Greene jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Daley walks away with a smile on his face. Greene gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Daley throws a lazy right hand but Greene sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Daley moves in looking to clinch but Greene pushes him off.
Tairy Greene seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Daley keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Greene is trying hard to land a takedown here. Daley sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Greene uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Daley.
Daley wants to clinch.

Daley instigates a clinch.
Daley works on Greene's body with a couple of short punches.
Greene tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Daley just stands there and leans against the cage.
Sean Daley has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tairy Greene.

A bit of stalling here from Greene.

Daley lands a right hand that snaps the head of Greene backwards.

Greene has Daley pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Daley manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Greene dives in and grabs Daley's left leg, looking for a takedown. Daley pushes down on Greene's head and hops out.
Greene looks gassed!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sean Daley dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Greene is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Daley slaps away a takedown attempt from Greene, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Daley fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Greene looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Daley ducks under a wild hook from Greene.
Daley attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
Daley throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Greene uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Daley.
Daley lands a right hook to the body.
Daley wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Daley lands with a right hand.
Daley cracks Greene with a right hand to the side of the head.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Greene tries to keep at a distance but Daley has taken the fight into the clinch.

Daley manages to break the clinch.
Daley moves in looking to clinch but Greene pushes him off.
Greene is breathing heavily.
Daley tries to clinch there but Greene circles away.

Daley misses with a jab to the body

and Greene counters with a nice double leg into side control. Daley won't be happy with that.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Greene has control of an arm but Daley manages to advance to Greene's back!

Will Daley go for the finish here or will he try and keep control of the position?
Greene is really stuck here.
Daley tries to keep control of the position but Greene is staying busy.

Daley is trying to stick to Greene's back but Greene is turning into Daley. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Daley's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Greene.

Greene has gone for a leg lock! Daley slips out almost immediately though and dives into Greene's guard.

Daley controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Greene is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Daley seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Daley leaves Greene with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Greene tries to clinch up but Daley circles away and keeps his distance.

Daley scores with a one two! Greene had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.

Greene closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Greene takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Greene goes for an armbar but Daley turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Daley.

Greene has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Daley can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Greene has his foot on Daley's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Daley works his way back into a safe position though.

Tairy Greene has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Greene manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Greene throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

Greene is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Daley has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Daley!
Sean Daley is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Daley avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Sean Daley.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Daley, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
