Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mister Grapple (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kenji Tamura (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the ring.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Mister Grapple!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kenji Tamura!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Shirou Masuda and Hirohito Nitta.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tamura displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Grapple.
Tamura throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Grapple tries to score a power double leg takedown but Tamura sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Grapple somewhat.
Nice takedown defense from Tamura. No joy for Grapple on that attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mister Grapple. That's going to take a lot out of him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Grapple checks a leg kick.

Grapple drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Grapple wants to control but Tamura is keeping him busy.
An elbow from Grapple crashes against the mat.
Tamura is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Grapple asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Grapple creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Tamura sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Tamura can do anything to dispel that myth.
Grapple controls the position.
Grapple in side control, throwing shots but Tamura defends.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Grapple tries to move into full mount but can't pass Tamura's legs.
Grapple throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Grapple shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Grapple is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Tamura!
You get the feeling that Tamura really doesn't like being in this position too much.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Grapple punching from mount but Tamura doing a good job of avoiding damage.
Grapple punishing his opponent with strikes.
Grapple wants to control the pace but Tamura is squirming around nicely.
Tamura really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Grapple. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Grapple thowing shots but they're missing.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Tamura is trying to get back to his feet but can't.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Grapple throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Tamura is really trying hard to get back to his feet.
Grapple lands a big shot there that rocks Tamura but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Tamura wants to control but Grapple is having none of it.
Grapple will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Grapple is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Tamura can't stay in a position like this for much longer.


It looks like Kenji Tamura has been cut.
Grapple throwing shots from mount but they're not landing.
Tamura is bucking up trying to escape but Grapple cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mister Grapple dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Kenji Tamura's cut.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Grapple shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Tamura defends it nicely.
Grapple shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Tamura pinned against the cage. Tamura gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Tamura keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mister Grapple. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Grapple shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Tamura sprawls well. Tamura wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Grapple gets slowly back to his feet.

Tamura scores with a kick to the midsection.
Grapple uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Tamura.
Tamura buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Grapple shoots in but Tamura avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Grapple fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Tamura avoids it really well and circles away.
Tamura pulls out of a head kick attempt.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Tamura throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Grapple stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Tamura.
Mister Grapple is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Tamura stuffs the takedown attempt from Grapple. Grapple gets slowly back to his feet.
Grapple changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Tamura tries to avoid it but Grapple manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Tamura to the ground. Tamura escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Nice takedown defense from Tamura. No joy for Grapple on that attempt.
Tamura lands with an uppercut that bounces Grapple off the ropes and back into rage.


It looks like Mister Grapple has been cut.
Grapple dives in and grabs Tamura's left leg, looking for a takedown. Tamura pushes down on Grapple's head and hops out.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Grapple shoots in but Tamura avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Tamura lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Tamura cracks Grapple with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Tamura has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Grapple to stand back up!


Grapple is rocked!
Grapple dives in and grabs Tamura's left leg, looking for a takedown. Tamura pushes down on Grapple's head and hops out.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Tamura scores with a leg kick.
A good leg kick by Tamura.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kenji Tamura showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the ring so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!


Tamura tries to bum rush Grapple with a series of wild strikes but Grapple uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Grapple closes this distance looking for a takedown but Tamura circles away.
Grapple showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Tamura.
A solid leg kick lands there for Tamura.
Tamura seems to be stalking Grapple here. He circles momentarily and then unleashes a devastatic head kick! Grapple drops like a stone, out cold! WOW! Are you kidding me!? What a knockout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:47 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Kenji Tamura!
