The crowd seem to be enjoying Ward's choice of entrance music: The Champ, Ghostface Killah. Chris Ward has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, DeShawn Harrington!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Chris Ward!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, James Atkins and Andrew Berry.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ward misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Harrington connects with a jab.
Ward closes this distance looking for a takedown but Harrington circles away.
Harrington stuffs the takedown attempt from Ward. Ward gets slowly back to his feet.
Chris Ward seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ward misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Harrington moves away from the strike by Ward.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ward tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Harrington swivels and escapes.
DeShawn Harrington has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Chris Ward.
Ward tries for a takedown but Harrington sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Ward shoots in for a takedown but Harrington shows good takedown defense.

Harrington lands a nice shot that snaps Ward's head back.
Ward doesn't manage to clinch there - Harrington circles away.
Harrington lands a jab to the nose.

Harrington shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Ward is trying to defend but Harrington finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Ward wants to improve his position but Harrington is controlling well.

Harrington is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Ward is defending against the submission attempts here by Harrington.

Harrington is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Harrington is breathing heavily.
Ward has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Harrington is working away from the top position though.
Harrington trying to pass the guard but Ward defending well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Harrington content to control rather than advance.
Ward is trying to get back to full guard.

Harrington is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Ward punching from the bottom.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
The fight stays on the outside here - Ward looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

and Harrington counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Harrington.

Harrington missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Ward is pulling down on Harrington's head. It's preventing any offense from Harrington, at least for the moment.
Ward utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Ward escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Harrington gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Ward looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Ward keeping full guard, as Harrington tries to pass.
Harrington trying to control the position from guard on top but Ward is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Harrington sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Ward's guard.

Harrington trying to work for an americana but Ward has managed to regain full guard.

Ward looking for a guillotine here but Harrington defends easily.
Ward can't keep his opponent in guard - Harrington advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Ward misses with a head kick.
Ward clinches but Harrington breaks the clinch

and Harrington counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Ward controls Harrington momentarily but Harrington frees himself.

Ward is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Ward has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Harrington can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Harrington thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Harrington tries to free his leg and advance position but Ward is retaining full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ward pulls Harrington in close to his closed guard and prevents Harrington from doing any damage or advancing position.

Harrington is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Ward has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Harrington should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Ward has tightened it up now! Harrington should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
