The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Matthews drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Wei not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Wei keeping full guard, as Matthews tries to pass.
Matthews controlling from the top position.
Wei wants to stand and escape but Matthews is having none of it.
Matthews showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
Matthews wants to control from the top but Wei keeps moving.

Matthews doesn't manage to clinch there - Wei circles away.

and Matthews makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Wei really felt that one!

Matthews thows a body shot but no joy.
Gong Wei seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Matthews scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.

Matthews decides to stand back up. Matthews steps back and let's Wei get back to his feet.
Wei throws a front kick that sends Matthews stumbling back into the cage.

and Wei counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Matthews is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Wei's half guard.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

and Matthews counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Matthews wants to control from the top but Wei keeps moving.
Matthews throws a strike but Wei rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Wei closes the distance and clinches.
Wei wants to get back to striking at distance but Matthews won't allow it.

and Matthews decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Wei's guard.
Matthews wants to pass the guard but Wei is keeping the position.

Wei has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Matthews can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Wei utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Matthews stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Wei swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Wei is looking to stand up but Matthews isn't so interested in that idea.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Wei tries for a takedown but Matthews circles away easily
and Matthews counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Matthews is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard.

Matthews slips nicely into half guard.
Matthews works his foot free and advances to mount.
Matthews controlling his opponent.
Wei tries to hold on but Matthews postures up.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Matthews trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Wei looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Ryan Matthews showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Wei's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!
Matthews will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Matthews tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Wei closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Matthews is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Wei's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Wei's back!
Matthews controlling the position well here. Wei rolled but Matthews kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.
Wei is keeping busy.
