Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jericho Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vernon Turner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jericho Johnson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Vernon Turner! The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Frank Dennis and Tiny Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Johnson wants to land a leg kick but Turner is out of range. Johnson fails with the takedown. Johnson tries to close the distance and clinch but Turner swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Johnson throws a series of punches but Turner avoids them all with ease. Turner shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Johnson's guard. Johnson keeping moving, preventing Turner from controlling successfully. Turner wants to pass the guard but Johnson is keeping the position. Turner controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Turner trying to control the position from guard on top but Johnson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Johnson looking for a sweep. Not yet Johnson, not yet. Turner stops Johnson from standing up. Johnson is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Johnson has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Turner can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
That's one minute gone in the round. Johnson tries to land a sweep but no joy. Turner postures up.
Johnson working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Turner doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Turner manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Turner looking to pass the guard. Turner looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Turner trying to control but Johnson is working from the bottom. Turner stopping the sweep attempt from Johnson. Johnson is breathing heavily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Turner looking to pass the guard.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Johnson tries to clinch up. Johnson gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Turner counters with a nice double leg into guard. Turner is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Turner connects with a couple of short punches. Turner stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Johnson swivels though and keeps the full guard. Johnson wants to sweep but no luck. Turner is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. I looks like Turner might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it. Johnson keeping full guard, as Turner tries to pass. Turner must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Turner stands up from Johnson's guard - Turner perhaps looking for a knockout. Vernon Turner seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Turner avoids the head kick by Johnson.
Johnson throws a body kick that misses. A left lands for Turner.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Turner scores a takedown into full mount! Turner lands a nice shot to the head. Johnson slips a leg in and gets back to half guard. Johnson moves into full guard.
Johnson will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Turner preventing the sweep. Johnson controls Turner momentarily but Turner frees himself. Turner really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Johnson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Johnson has his foot on Turner's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Turner works his way back into a safe position though. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Turner is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Vernon Turner dominated that round. That's time! Johnson's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Johnson shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Turner counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Turner controlling the action here. Johnson wants to improve his position but Turner is controlling well.

Turner wants to control but Johnson is keeping him busy. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Turner lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. Johnson trying to hold on to Turner's head to control him but Turner postures up.
Turner is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard. Turner trying to move into half guard but instead Johnson has managed to sweep! Turner looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Turner is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Turner trying to keep a closed guard but Johnson is proving a slippery customer.
Turner pulls Johnson in close to his closed guard and prevents Johnson from doing any damage or advancing position. Johnson trying to control the position from guard on top but Turner is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Johnson won't allow Turner to sweep him here. Turner managing to control the position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Johnson passes into half guard. Johnson is tying to control. Turner wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Turner wants to control but Johnson is keeping busy.
Turner wants to get back to full guard. Nice strikes from Johnson there. Johnson not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Turner makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Turner looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Johnson gets full guard. Turner controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Johnson tries to land a sweep but no joy. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Turner in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Johnson is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Turner controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Johnson has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Turner doesn't defend quickly enough and Johnson has managed to lock this one up! Can Turner escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Johnson on a fantastic submission victory.
