PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Antonio Filho (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kompakt Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gracie is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Gracie Family Entrada. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Kompakt Gracie was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Mauricio Rocha and Seu Braga.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Filho shoots in for a takedown but Gracie shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Gracie shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Filho counters with a nice double leg into side control. Gracie won't be happy with that.
Gracie is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

Gracie is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Gracie tries to get to full guard but Filho has control of the leg.
Gracie flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Filho looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Gracie with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

That was a close round but I would say that Antonio Filho will probably get the nod.

Gracie doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Filho counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Gracie!

Filho has hold of Gracie's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Gracie manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Gracie is looking to improve his position but Filho isn't that keen on the idea.

Filho is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Gracie has managed to escape the submission attempt.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Gracie quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Filho has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Gracie celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.
