Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Mike Hursten! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Joe Rich! The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Patrick Alders and Radbod Blank.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rich fails in his attempt to clinch. Rich rushes Hursten and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Hursten dictating the pace here, as the fighters clinch against the cage. A head punch on the inside from Rich fails to land. Hursten lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Rich tries to kick Hursten off but Hursten keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Hursten throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Hursten stalling. Rich controlling the position for now. Hursten content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. Rich is trying to get back to full guard. Hursten is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rich is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Hursten looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
The referee stands the fighters back up. Mike Hursten just wasn't active enough from the dominant position. Rich shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Hursten sprawls well. Hursten wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Rich gets slowly back to his feet. Rich fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Hursten avoids it really well and circles away. Rich fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Mike Hursten has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Joe Rich. Rich shoots in but Hursten avoids the takedown attempt easily. Rich looks gassed! No joy there for Rich, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Hursten listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut. A head kick misses from Rich.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hursten moves into range and connects with a jab. Rich avoids the body shot from Hursten.
Hursten throws a right and a left that Rich avoids nicely. Hursten scores with a one two! Rich had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes. Rich takes a shot right to the bread basket. Hursten lands a body shot.
Hursten thuds a left hand into Rich's body. Hursten keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Hursten closes the distance and pushes Rich back into the cage. Hursten pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Hursten throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Hursten lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Hursten shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Rich's guard. Hursten is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Rich trying to control the position.
Rich can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Hursten controls the pace. Hursten pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Rich is keeping the position for now. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Hursten postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Hursten slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Mike Hursten dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Rich misses with a takedown and Hursten counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Rich's guard now. Hursten is stalling in the full guard. Rich keeping moving, preventing Hursten from controlling successfully. Rich is trying to control the position but Hursten postures up. Hursten content to stall in guard here. Rich trying to keep a closed guard but Hursten is proving a slippery customer.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Hursten is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rich lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Hursten! Hursten tries to hold on but Rich pushes him away. Hursten has given up his back, trying to stand up. Not clever. Will Rich go for the finish here or will he try and keep control of the position?
Hursten rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Rich is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard. Hursten keeping full guard, as Rich tries to pass. Hursten looking for a sweep. Not yet Hursten, not yet. Hursten has Rich pulled in close to control his posture. Hursten scrambles and gets back to his feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hursten will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Rich is looking to clinch but Hursten is avoiding it.
Hursten has a takedown stuffed. Rich tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Mike Hursten is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Rich drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Hursten not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Hursten utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Rich slips nicely into half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Hursten wants to improve his position but Rich is controlling well.
Hursten is trying is best to control the position here. Rich passes to side control. Rich trying to control the position but Hursten is working away. Hursten is trying to improve his position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hursten is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Hursten controlling the action here. Rich is looking to improve his position.

That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Rich. Hursten misses with a takedown attempt and Rich counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Hursten is looking to escape. Rich stands up from half guard. Rich doesn't manage to clinch there - Hursten circles away.
Hursten misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Rich.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Rich looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Hursten! Rich trying to control but Hursten is having none of it. Hursten wants to get back to his feet.
Rich lands with some strikes. Hursten is just holding on here. Rich manages to take his back.

Rich is looking for the choke from the back position but Hursten is controlling his hands well. Mike Hursten is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Hursten controlling the position well but he knows he's in a bad position. Rich throwing lazy shots from the back mount that aren't doing any damage. Hursten controlling the position well but he knows he's in a bad position.
