PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Johnny Cervoni (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Stann Stone (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cervoni comes to the cage accompanied by Switchfoot - Meant To Live. Stone has chosen BLUNT- "The Iron Maiden" as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Johnny Cervoni has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Johnny Cervoni!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Stann Stone!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Alan Glass and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Cervoni drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Cervoni misses with the ground and pound.
Cervoni trying to control the position but Stone is working away.
Stone tries to bench press Cervoni off him but Cervoni keeps the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Cervoni thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Stone is looking for a sweep.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Stone manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Stone moves nicely into side control.

Stone decides to stand up, so the ref orders Cervoni to his feet.
Cervoni tries to score a power double leg takedown but Stone sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Cervoni somewhat.
Cervoni really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Cervoni fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

Cervoni shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Cervoni preventing the sweep.
Stone working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Cervoni.
Cervoni wants to pass the guard but Stone is keeping the position.
Stone tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Cervoni content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Stone lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Cervoni!
Cervoni tries to buck Stone off but Stone takes his back!
The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Stone's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.

Cervoni manages to get to his feet, escaping the difficult position.
Stone throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Cervoni's head.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Cervoni shoots for a double leg takedown but Stone sprawls well. He's pushed Cervoni's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Johnny Cervoni. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Stone tries to land a front kick but Cervoni steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Stone misses with a head kick.
Stann Stone seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Stone throws a leg kick which misses Cervoni's front leg but catches the back leg as Cervoni tries to avoid it.
Cervoni swats away the attempt to clinch by Stone.
Good leg kick by Stone there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Stone dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Cervoni. That did some damage!
Stone fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Cervoni.
Stone buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Cervoni scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
Cervoni looks to land a left hand but Stone moved out of range nicely.
Cervoni throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Some wild striking there from Cervoni.
A kick lands to the mid section there for Stone.
Cervoni is breathing heavily.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Stone throws a sloppy head kick and Cervoni moves out of range easily.
Cervoni avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Stone lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Stann Stone is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Stone thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Cervoni if he has to take too many more of those.
An inside leg kick lands from Stone.
Stone throws a body kick that digs right into the meat.
Stone lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Stone throws the left hand but Cervoni avoids the punch easily.
Stone lands with a kick to the temple. Cervoni shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Cervoni tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Stone throws a nice head kick!
Stone misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Cervoni.
Stone keeps Cervoni at a distance using the push kick.
Stone thumps Cervoni with a low kick.

Stone sets himself and throws a head kick that knocks Cervoni to the ground! Stone dives into full mount looking to finish!


Cervoni is rocked!

Stone stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.
Oh Cervoni is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Stone takes the fight into the clinch.
Stone connects with a nasty looking knee right to Cervoni's face.
Stone lands an elbow that stopped Cervoni in his tracks for a moment.
Stone comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.
The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
Stone lands an elbow just above Cervoni 's eye.
Cervoni changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Stone fights it off and pushes away nicely.
A kick lands to the mid section there for Stone.
Stone scoring well with a low kick there.
Cervoni seems to have got his legs back now.
A head kick misses from Stone.
Stone lands with a kick to the temple. Cervoni shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Stone showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Cervoni.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Stone feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Cervoni's calf.
Stone buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Stone tries a head kick but it misses.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Stann Stone dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Stone has managed to clinch.
Stone landing knees to the body.
Stone comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.
Nice elbow from Stone.
Cervoni looking for a takedown.
Stone scores with a knee to the head.
Cervoni takes an elbow to the temple.
Stone creates some distance and fires off a vicious elbow that drops Cervoni! He pounces and finishes the fight with more strikes! Nice KO for Stone.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:23 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Stann Stone!
