The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Masatupo clinches up against the cage. Masatupo will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Rayner up against the cage. Masatupo scores with a knee to the head.
Masatupo throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Rayner blocks it with crossed arms. Masatupo looking to throw knees to the head but Rayner is blocking nicely.

Rayner tries to break the clinch but Masatupo is controlling the position. Masatupo is looking to control Rayner's arms but Rayner gets an underhook and turns him. Now Masatupo has his back to the cage. The referee is keeping an eye on Rayner - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.

That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Masatupo with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.

Rayner scores a takedown into full mount! Masatupo tries to hold on but Rayner pushes him away. Rayner working for a guillotine from mount but Masatupo is in no mood to give up. Rayner cracks Masatupo with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Rayner can't control as he wanted to and Masatupo manages to get the fight back to his half guard. Rayner is keen to just control but Masatupo is a slippery customer.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rayner wants to free his trapped foot but Masatupo is holding on for dear life with his legs. Masatupo keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Rayner is looking to advance position but Masatupo won't allow it. Rayner is trying to work for a kimura but Masatupo is defending well.
Rayner seems to be looking for submissions.

Masatupo forces Rayner back against the cage and clinches. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Masatupo escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Masatupo throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Masatupo closes the distance and clinches. Masatupo tries to land a knee to the head but Rayner blocks with his arms.

A close round but Haiki Masatupo will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Jethro Rayner's cut. That's time! Rayner's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
The fight stays on the outside here - Masatupo looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Rayner connects with a body shot. Masatupo throws a front kick aimed at Rayner's knee but Rayner avoids it well. Masatupo wants to clinch up but Rayner keeps it at a distance. Rayner takes a swing at Masatupo's ribcage but misses. Masatupo scores with a head kick.
Rayner keeps the fight on the outside. Haiki Masatupo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Rayner thows a left - swing and a miss! Rayner throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Masatupo's waist but Masatupo gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Rayner off to one side. Masatupo throws a sloppy head kick and Rayner moves out of range easily. Masatupo connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
That's one minute gone in the round. Masatupo fails with an attempt to clinch.
Rayner misses with a low kick. Rayner wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. Masatupo swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Masatupo misses with a head kick.
Masatupo throws a nice inside leg kick. Masatupo uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Rayner.
Rayner takes a swing at Masatupo's ribcage but misses. Masatupo throws a head kick but Rayner moves out of range.
Rayner scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. You can see the frustration on Masatupo's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Masatupo is trying to improve his position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Masatupo stops Rayner from passing to mount. Rayner advances nicely into full mount. Rayner landing shots from mount. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Masatupo is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Masatupo is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rayner can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Masatupo is looking to escape. Masatupo is trying desperately to improve position. Rayner looking to control but Masatupo is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Rayner throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Rayner wants to take his opponent's back but he's not managed it. Rayner throwing strikes here but Masatupo is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Rayner goes for an armbar but Masatupo turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Masatupo. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Rayner wants to improve his position but instead Masatupo has moved into half guard.
Rayner looking for submissions off his back. Rayner wants to get back to full guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Haiki Masatupo showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The cut man is working on Jethro Rayner's cut. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. And we move into the final round!

He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Masatupo wants to clinch. Masatupo tries to clinch up. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. A big left from Masatupo misses. Rayner misses with a wild body shot. Rayner closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Masatupo prevents Rayner from improving position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rayner works to advance to full mount. Masatupo defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs. Rayner connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Poor strikes thrown by Rayner there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
Rayner misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

Masatupo is rocked! Rayner has isolated one of Masatupo's arms. Masatupo looking to fight him off but Rayner twists into an armbar. It's tight... Will he tap?? YES, he's tapped! This one is all over!
