Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Nokia Motorola (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rogerio Ribeirao (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rogerio Ribeirao!
The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Emerson Jorge and Daniel Cesar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fight stays on the outside here - Motorola looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Ribeirao misses with a series of wild punches.
Rogerio Ribeirao seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Ribeirao shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Ribeirao showed some decent athleticism there.

Ribeirao passes into side control, despite Motorola's attempt to control the position.

You can see the frustration on Motorola's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Motorola is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.
Ribeirao tries to move into full mount but can't pass Motorola's legs.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

and Ribeirao counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Ribeirao.
Motorola might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Motorola can't keep his opponent in guard - Ribeirao advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Motorola wants to control but Ribeirao is having none of it.
Ribeirao throws some wild stikes that Motorola manages to avoid easily.
Ribeirao has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Ribeirao misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Ribeirao postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Motorola looks a forlorn figure.
Motorola is squirming around, avoiding Ribeirao's attempts to control the action.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Motorola tries to hold on but Ribeirao pushes him away.
Ribeirao sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Motorola misses with a takedown

and Ribeirao counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Motorola!

Motorola closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Motorola lands in his opponent's guard.

Ribeirao wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Motorola drops back, looking for a kneebar! Ribeirao looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Ribeirao looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Ribeirao!

and Ribeirao counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Motorola!
Ribeirao unloads with some shots from mount but Motorola bucks and avoids them well.
Ribeirao thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.
Motorola tries to hold on but Ribeirao pushes him away.
Ribeirao content just to control the position here.
Motorola has given up his back here.

Motorola prevents Ribeirao from getting a body triangle.

Ribeirao doesn't have the hooks in and Motorola manages to turn into his guard.
Motorola looking to sit in guard and control but Ribeirao gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Ribeirao is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Rogerio Ribeirao showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Motorola is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Ribeirao is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Ribeirao has escaped and now he's on top!

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Motorola has guillotine here! It looks pretty tight! Could this be all over! No, Ribeirao escapes and passes into side control at the same time. Nice work there by Ribeirao!
Motorola wants to control but Ribeirao postures up.
Ribeirao in side control lands a decent elbow.
Motorola seems a little lost for a moment, as Ribeirao dominates the positioning.
Motorola is looking to regain half guard here but Ribeirao keeps moving and retains side control.
Motorola is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Ribeirao is one step ahead and moves to full mount!

Motorola is desperately trying to improve his position but Ribeirao has a good base and remains in mount.
Ribeirao takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Let's hope that Ribeirao has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Motorola tries to control the position but Ribeirao now has his back.
Nokia Motorola has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
I would not like to be Motorola right now.
Well, with Ribeirao on his back, surely it's only a matter of time before Motorola is tapping out... Can he escape the position?
Motorola trying to control the action but Ribeirao just sinks the hooks in.

The referee is taking a good look at Motorola as he is on the wrong end of some big shots from Ribeirao!

I would just about give that final round to Rogerio Ribeirao.
