Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Fyodor Karpov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Simon Koob (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Karpov comes to the cage accompanied by Can’t Be Touched - Roy Jones. Koob comes into a darkened arena with his song building. The Offspring- Stuff is messed up kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Fyodor Karpov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Simon Koob!
The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Fedor Mirinova and Konstantin Menshow.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Karpov uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Koob.

Koob gets the takedown into side control.
Koob tries to advance to mount but Karpov instead regains half guard.
Well, if Koob is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Koob's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Karpov wants to improve his position but Koob is controlling well.
Koob wants to stand up but Karpov has a hold of him and won't allow it.
Koob wants to pass to mount but Karpov is defending the position.

Koob decides to stand and escape the position.
Karpov stuffs the takedown.
Koob looks gassed!
Koob fails with a takedown attempt.
No luck for Koob with that takedown attempt.
Fyodor Karpov has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Simon Koob.

Karpov gets the takedown into side control.
Karpov in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.

Karpov working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Koob tries to bench press Karpov off him but Karpov keeps the position.

You can see the frustration on Koob's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Koob stops Karpov from passing to mount.
Koob is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Karpov has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Karpov stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Karpov will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Karpov fails with an attempt to clinch.
Karpov is trying hard to land a takedown here. Koob sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Karpov changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Koob looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Koob tries to buck Karpov off but Karpov is having none of it.
Karpov wants to lay and pray for a moment but Koob keeps working.

Koob wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!

Koob is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Karpov off and has taken his back!
Karpov wants to control his opponent's hands but Koob gets his hands free.
Koob controls the action.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Karpov trying to control the hands but Koob won't let him.
Karpov trying to get back to his feet but Koob is in full control for now.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Fyodor Karpov will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Koob shoots and misses

and Karpov counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Karpov thows a huge punch but Koob dodges it nicely.
Karpov trying to control from half guard but Koob is working away.
Koob has his hands clasped together around Karpov's back. He's all about the action.
Koob tries to get to full guard but Karpov has control of the leg.
Koob wants to control but Karpov is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Koob tries to roll over but Karpov keeps him under control.
Karpov wants to take a breather but Koob is having none of it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Koob looks for a takedown but Karpov sprawls well.
Simon Koob seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Karpov changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Koob tries to avoid it but Karpov manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Koob to the ground. Koob escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Koob looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Koob slows the pace down in half guard.

Koob decides to stand and escape the position.

Koob shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Karpov counters with a single leg into guard. Koob didn't expect that.
Fyodor Karpov has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Simon Koob.

Karpov decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Karpov tries to close the distance and clinch up but Koob swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Koob closes the distance and pushes Karpov back into the cage.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Karpov has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Koob avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Koob tries to score a body lock takedown but Karpov shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Karpov gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Koob.
Karpov looking to throw knees to the head but Koob is blocking nicely.
Karpov tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Koob lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Koob wants to pass to mount but Karpov is defending the position.

Koob with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Karpov is trying to get back to full guard.
Koob content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Koob stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
Karpov tries to score a power double leg takedown but Koob sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Karpov somewhat.
Koob misses with a takedown

and Karpov counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Koob's guard now.
Koob is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Fyodor Karpov will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!



Karpov gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Koob to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Koob not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Koob must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Karpov not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Koob sitting in guard here, content to control.
Koob passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Koob stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Koob feints and as Karpov raises his hands in defense, Koob changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Koob scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.

Karpov shoots in and bounces Koob off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Koob seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Let's hope that Koob has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Despite being in the dominant position, Simon Koob just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Karpov shoots in and bounces Koob off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Karpov is fighting to break Koob's control of his arms but Koob is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Simon Koob has got the better of the ground game so far.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Karpov trying to control the position from guard on top but Koob is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Koob wants to sweep but no luck.
Simon Koob has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Koob is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Koob wants to work for an arm triangle but Karpov is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Karpov wants to get back to his feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Fyodor Karpov is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Koob wants to control from the top but Karpov keeps moving.

Simon Koob comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Karpov has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
