Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Alberto Moneymaker Jr (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ringo Starr (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Moneymaker Jr comes into the arena with Ami Aspelund - Apinamies blaring out of the sound system. Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Alberto Moneymaker Jr! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ringo Starr! The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Starr tries to close the distance and clinch but Moneymaker Jr swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Moneymaker Jr closes the distance and clinches up with Starr, looking for a takedown. Moneymaker Jr pushes Starr against the cage but Starr circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Moneymaker Jr lands a nice shot to the body.
Moneymaker Jr decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Starr blocking the ground and pound attempt from Moneymaker Jr. Starr is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Moneymaker Jr's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Moneymaker Jr's back! Starr has his opponent's back and is working for the choke. Moneymaker Jr can't escape the position.
Starr is trying to stick to Moneymaker Jr's back but Moneymaker Jr is turning into Starr. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Starr's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Moneymaker Jr. Moneymaker Jr stopping the sweep attempt from Starr. Starr is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Moneymaker Jr is in close to Starr's body, working some short punches and elbows. Starr keeping full guard, as Moneymaker Jr tries to pass. Moneymaker Jr stopping the sweep attempt from Starr. Moneymaker Jr pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Starr is keeping the position for now. Moneymaker Jr throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Moneymaker Jr cracks Starr with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business. Moneymaker Jr goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo. Moneymaker Jr looks to throw the jab but Starr is out of range. Moneymaker Jr ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Starr moves away. Starr misses with a takedown attempt and Moneymaker Jr counters with a single leg into guard. Starr didn't expect that. Moneymaker Jr with a flurry of punches that miss. Moneymaker Jr is breathing heavily.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Starr looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Moneymaker Jr accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Moneymaker Jr throwing strikes from guard but Starr blocks nicely. Starr is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Starr is looking to control Moneymaker Jr's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Starr avoid being mounted? Moneymaker Jr is looking to stall here but Starr recovers full guard. You can see the frustration on Starr's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Moneymaker Jr working the body and head with strikes. Starr is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. Moneymaker Jr throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Moneymaker Jr trying to mount his opponent but Starr defends it. Moneymaker Jr slips a nice elbow through Starr's hands, connecting with Starr's forehead. Moneymaker Jr sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Starr defending well though. Moneymaker Jr throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Moneymaker Jr is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Moneymaker Jr wants to sweep but no luck. Starr is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Moneymaker Jr escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Starr gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Starr drops back looking for a leg! Moneymaker Jr is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Moneymaker Jr manages to kick Starr off! Starr jumps back into Moneymaker Jr's guard. Moneymaker Jr keeping moving, preventing Starr from controlling successfully. Moneymaker Jr looking to hit a scissor sweep but Starr is one step ahead there. Starr passes easily into side control. Nice work.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Starr tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Moneymaker Jr manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! Starr is looking to control Moneymaker Jr's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Starr avoid being mounted? The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Starr wants to improve his position but Moneymaker Jr is controlling well.

Starr misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Moneymaker Jr lands with a hook. Starr tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head. Starr shoots in for a takedown but Moneymaker Jr shows good takedown defense. Moneymaker Jr looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Moneymaker Jr has gone for a leg lock! Starr slips out almost immediately though and dives into Moneymaker Jr's guard. Starr preventing the sweep. Starr pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Alberto Moneymaker Jr overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Moneymaker Jr gets back to full guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Starr sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Moneymaker Jr's guard. Starr prevents Moneymaker Jr from standing back up.

Starr wants to lay and pray for a moment but Moneymaker Jr keeps working.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Starr not landing any meaningful shots this time. Starr is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Moneymaker Jr wants to get back to his feet.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Starr looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Moneymaker Jr is fending him off so far but Starr persists. Nope, Moneymaker Jr circles away and we're back to standing. Ringo Starr has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Alberto Moneymaker Jr has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ringo Starr. Moneymaker Jr lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!

And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Alberto Moneymaker Jr. Well Moneymaker Jr has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
