Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, James The Executioner! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Pablo Rosa Rivera! The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Chris Edwards and Steven Brown.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The Executioner bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. You can see the frustration on Rivera's face as The Executioner controls the position. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! The Executioner cracks Rivera with an elbow. That is naaassty. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Rivera is looking to regain half guard here but The Executioner keeps moving and retains side control. The Executioner is looking to take a break and control but Rivera is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Rivera tries to improve position but can't. Rivera is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. The Executioner fails in his attempt to clinch. The Executioner fails with an attempt to clinch.

The Executioner checks a low kick from Rivera. The Executioner tries to score a power double leg takedown but Rivera sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten The Executioner somewhat.
That's one minute gone in the round. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from The Executioner. Rivera dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on The Executioner. That did some damage! The Executioner tries to close the distance and clinch but Rivera swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. The Executioner scores a takedown into full mount! The Executioner really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. The Executioner prevents Rivera from getting the reversal.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The Executioner has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Rivera's face.
Rivera tries to get back to half guard but can't. Rivera bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done! Rivera won't allow The Executioner to sweep him here. Rivera thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Rivera postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! The Executioner is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Rivera, into his guard. Rivera looks gassed! The Executioner pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Rivera is keeping the position for now. The Executioner has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Rivera keeping moving, preventing The Executioner from controlling successfully.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rivera working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. The Executioner doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. The Executioner manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. The Executioner wants to control from the top but Rivera keeps moving. Rivera had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. The Executioner defends it easily. The Executioner controlling from the top position. The Executioner throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. The Executioner makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. The Executioner trying to control but Rivera is working from the bottom. Rivera looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

The Executioner is looking to take a break and control but Rivera is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. The Executioner prevents Rivera from improving his position. Rivera actively working from the bottom here. The Executioner performing his best blanket impression for a moment. The Executioner wants to pass to mount but Rivera is defending the position. That was a close round but I would say that James The Executioner will probably get the nod. That's time! The Executioner's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
The Executioner darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Rivera keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Rivera is refusing to be controlled, as The Executioner sits in half guard. The Executioner moves into side control, avoiding a weak kimura attempt from Rivera. Rivera is looking to regain half guard here but The Executioner keeps moving and retains side control. Rivera taking a bit of punishment here - The Executioner scoring with strikes. Rivera is breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. The Executioner lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Rivera down.
Rivera tries to improve position but can't. The Executioner working the ground and pound. Rivera stops The Executioner from passing to mount. The Executioner looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Rivera throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent The Executioner stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Rivera scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. The Executioner doesn't seem bothered though. The Executioner fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Rivera throws a leg kick which misses The Executioner's front leg but catches the back leg as The Executioner tries to avoid it. The Executioner tries to score a power double leg takedown but Rivera sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten The Executioner somewhat. Left hook, right uppercut from Rivera. The Executioner walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush. Rivera lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. The Executioner shoots in looking for a takedown. Rivera tries to sprawl out of it but The Executioner keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Rivera manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Rivera throws a right and a left that both miss.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The Executioner tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him. Rivera moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body. The Executioner shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Rivera but Rivera pushes him off and we're back to square one. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for James The Executioner. That's going to take a lot out of him. Rivera throws a nice looking combination but The Executioner bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. The Executioner checks a low kick from Rivera. Rivera misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
The Executioner feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

The Executioner doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. The Executioner trying to control but Rivera is working from the bottom. Rivera looking for a guillotine here but The Executioner defends easily.

The Executioner got a little sloppy there for a moment and Rivera has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, The Executioner has managed to get both his arms back between Rivera's legs - danger averted. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Pablo Rosa Rivera showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!
Rivera keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. The Executioner closes the distance and clinches up with Rivera, looking for a takedown. The Executioner pushes Rivera against the cage but Rivera circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. The Executioner bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. James The Executioner overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Rivera tries to improve position but can't. Rivera is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked The Executioner off and has taken his back! Rivera has his arm under The Executioner's chin here. Game over son! Rivera squeezes tightly and The Executioner is forced to tap out!
