Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Keith Glenn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and BJ Penn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Keith Glenn!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, BJ Penn!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Frank Dennis and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Glenn closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Penn tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Penn avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Glenn.
Penn manages to get back to half guard.
Glenn tries to pass to full mount but Penn defends it.
Penn is pressing down on Glenn's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Penn is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Glenn won't allow Penn to sweep him here.

Penn has his foot on Glenn's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Glenn works his way back into a safe position though.
Penn doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Glenn throwing strikes from guard but Penn blocks nicely.
Glenn wants to control from the top but Penn keeps moving.
Glenn advances to half guard.

Penn flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Penn is looking to improve his position.
Glenn is trying to control the action in half guard but Penn is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Penn feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Penn postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Penn in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Penn wants to control from the top but Glenn keeps moving.

Glenn working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Penn doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Penn manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Penn drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Penn jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Glenn has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Penn can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Penn throws a big right hand that misses.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Penn is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Penn is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That was a close round but I would say that Keith Glenn will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Penn fails with the takedown

and Glenn counters with a shoot takedown. Penn fights it but they end up in guard.

Glenn drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Glenn jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Penn is on top in guard.

Penn postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Glenn is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Penn, into his guard.

Glenn drops back looking for a leg! Penn is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Penn manages to kick Glenn off! Glenn jumps back into Penn's guard.

Penn is breathing heavily.

Penn looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Glenn is pushing down on Penn's leg trying to pass to half guard. Penn is fighting to maintain full guard but Glenn has managed to sneak the leg through.

Glenn is keen to just control but Penn is a slippery customer.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Penn bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Glenn's guard.

Penn fails with the takedown

and Glenn counters by moving into the clinch.
Penn has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Glenn is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Penn has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Glenn avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Keith Glenn has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of BJ Penn.
Glenn can't get the takedown.
Penn jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Glenn walks away with a smile on his face. Penn gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
BJ Penn seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Penn tries to score a body lock takedown but Glenn shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
