Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Bosse Stenhard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rick Purcell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Stenhard comes to the ring accompanied by Blur - Song 2. Bosse Stenhard has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 7 - 0, fighting out of London, Bosse Stenhard!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 7 - 0, fighting out of London, Rick Purcell!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, Richard Clark and Steven Brown.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Purcell loads up on a big right hand but Stenhard slips the punch.
Purcell misses the jab.
Stenhard with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
A nice inside leg kick there by Stenhard. That's going to slow Purcell down.

Stenhard looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Purcell is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Stenhard slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Stenhard has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Stenhard lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.

Stenhard fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Purcell, pushing him back against the ropes.
Stenhard holding his opponent close, against the ropes.
Purcell tries to break the clinch but Stenhard is controlling the position.

Purcell breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
No joy there for Purcell, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Purcell connects with a good right hand that stumbles Stenhard. Stenhard circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Purcell misses with an uppercut. Stenhard saw that one coming.
Purcell misses with a hook. Stenhard ducked under it nicely.
Purcell wants to clinch

and Stenhard decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Purcell's guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Stenhard stands and steps away. Purcell gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Purcell throws a leg kick that is checked
and Stenhard counters with a series of strikes. Purcell will be more careful next time no doubt.
Nice defenses there by Stenhard.
Stenhard throws a right and a left that both miss.

Stenhard shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Purcell really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Stenhard. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Purcell is in a horrible position here. Stenhard smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

Stenhard jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Purcell manages to avoid the submission attempt.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Purcell can do anything to dispel that myth.
Stenhard working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.

Stenhard is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Purcell has escaped the position, nice work there.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Purcell is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
Stenhard trying to control the action but Purcell is working from the bottom.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Stenhard in side control lands a decent elbow.
Purcell is trying to get back to half guard.
Stenhard prevents Purcell from escaping the position.

Stenhard has hold of Purcell's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Purcell seems comfortable defending it but Stenhard has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Purcell is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Purcell is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Stenhard couldn't care less - he's delighted!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:30 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Bosse Stenhard!
