Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Helio Chavez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Drew Carpenter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chavez comes to the ring accompanied by Sandstorm by DJ Darude. The crowd seem to be enjoying Carpenter's choice of entrance music: Happy Happy Rice Shower. Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Helio Chavez! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Drew Carpenter! The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, Andrew Berry and Daniel Bishop.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Carpenter tries to move into range but Chavez moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand. Chavez connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son. Carpenter throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Chavez's head.
It looks like Helio Chavez has been cut. Chavez lands a nice shot that snaps Carpenter's head back.
Carpenter misses with an attempted mid kick.

Chavez shoots in for a takedown but Carpenter shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Wow, both these guys are really going for it! Carpenter misses with a low kick. Carpenter shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Carpenter distracts Chavez with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Chavez escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Carpenter gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Chavez swivels though and keeps the full guard. Carpenter connects with a couple of short punches. Carpenter is working Chavez over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Carpenter with a nice head shot there. Carpenter got a little sloppy there for a moment and Chavez has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Carpenter has managed to get both his arms back between Chavez's legs - danger averted.
That's one minute gone in the round. Carpenter is working Chavez over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Carpenter working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Carpenter missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Chavez is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Carpenter passes Chavez's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Chavez actively working from the bottom here. Chavez tries to get to full guard but Carpenter has control of the leg. Carpenter moves nicely into side control. Carpenter advances to mount. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Carpenter landing strikes, looking to finish! A nice elbow there by Carpenter. Carpenter lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Chavez hang on? Carpenter raining down shots from the mount! Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! The referee warns Chavez that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
