The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hardy tries to close the distance and clinch but Diaz swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Hardy is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.
Diaz postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Hardy looks a forlorn figure.

Diaz has the rear naked choke here! This is very bad for Hardy! Can he survive? No! He's out! Diaz gets to his feet and celebrates with his cornermen. He looks absolutely delighted. In the post fight interviews he takes time to thank his parents and everyone who has believed in him from the start. How sweet.
