Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Dave Doball! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jones Shane! The judges for this bout are Radbod Blank, Nard Betker and Albert Achterberg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Shane throws a nice looking combination but Doball bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Doball looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this! Doball lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Shane backs up against the cage.
Shane fails in his attempt to clinch. A cross from Shane lands. Doball moves into the clinch. Shane tries to circle away but Doball has him pinned against the cage. Doball misses with a punch to the body.
Shane scores with a hook to the body. Shane throws a knee to the head but misses.
Shane breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Doball fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Doball takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. Shane scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent. Shane clinches up against the cage.
That's one minute gone in the round. Shane wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Doball has him pressed against the cage. Shane breaks from the clinch.
Shane pushes Doball up against the cage in a clinch. Shane lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!
Doball tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Shane just stands there and leans against the cage. Shane slowing the pace effectively. Shane manages to break the clinch.
Shane lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Shane.
Doball is rocked! Shane lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Doball at a distance.
Shane rushes Doball and presses him up against the cage. Shane tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Shane lands a right hand. Doball wants to stall.

Doball really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Shane lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh. A good leg kick by Shane. Shane throws a one two combo.
Shane fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Shane fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Doball. Shane closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Shane is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Shane lets loose with a powerful body kick. Doball will feel that in the morning. Shane is looking to clinch. Doball dodges the punch combination from Shane.

Doball circles away from the clinch attempt and Doball counters with a single leg into guard. Shane didn't expect that.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Doball drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Shane dives on top into guard. Shane working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Shane must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Shane trying to stand up but can't free himself from Doball's guard. Shane is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Shane drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Doball manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Shane has Doball in his guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jones Shane dominated that round. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!
Shane throws a push kick but Doball slaps the foot to one side. Doball blocks the body kick.
Shane tries to keep at a distance but Doball has taken the fight into the clinch. Doball tries to circle away but Shane has him pinned against the cage. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Doball using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Shane has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Shane escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Shane gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Shane pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Shane gets a clinch.

A nice right hand lands inside from Shane. Doball goes for a takedown attempt but Shane pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Shane lands a head kick. Doball smiles back at him and beckons him forward. A head kick from Shane lands but Doball takes it in his stride. Shane scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction. Oh Doball is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Shane clinches. Doball seems to have got his legs back now. Doball is trying to stall.
The referee calls for Shane to work.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Shane tries a knee to the head but Doball blocks it.
Doball letting Shane take a breather here. Both fighters working to control the clinch. Doball is looking to control Shane's arms but Shane gets an underhook and turns him. Now Doball has his back to the cage. Shane manages to break the clinch.
Shane tries to clinch up but Doball circles away and keeps his distance. Shane tries to clinch but fails miserably and Doball counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Doball. Shane breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Shane clinches with his opponent.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Shane scores with a push kick. Shane rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Doball moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Shane darts in and clinches Doball up against the cage. Shane's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Shane gets a clinch. Doball wants to stall.

Shane goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo. Shane throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.

Jones Shane seems to be getting the better of the standup. Doball is trying hard to land a takedown here. Shane sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Doball needs to keep his hands up - Shane had a free shot at his head there. Shane lands a head kick. Doball smiles back at him and beckons him forward. Shane keeps Doball at a distance using the push kick. Dave Doball is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Doball wants to clinch. Jones Shane showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Both fighters working to control the clinch. A nice right hand lands inside from Shane. Shane unloads a knee to the mid-section. Doball is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight. Doball fails to pull guard.

Doball takes a kick to the side of the head. Doball goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
That's three minutes gone in the round. That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Doball crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Shane - the referee stops the clock and Doball gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Shane. Doball manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes. Doball will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

and Doball counters with a slapping leg kick. Doball looks to land a combination but Shane avoids it well. Doball swats away the attempt to clinch by Shane.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Shane scores with a jab to the jaw. Shane throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Shane throws a right and a left that Doball avoids nicely. Jones Shane is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Shane just misses with a punch to the body.

Shane lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Doball backwards. Doball has had enough of the clinch but Shane keeps him there for the moment. Shane manages to break the clinch.
Shane throws a mid kick that lands with a slap. Shane throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Doball makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick. Doball tries to clinch up enabling Shane to counter with a crisp jab.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Shane misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Doball counters with a good low kick that Shane was not able to check. Shane fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Shane scrambles and gets back to his feet.

Shane looks to clinch and Doball counters with a nice double leg into guard. Shane is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Doball thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Doball drops back looking for a leg! Shane is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Shane manages to kick Doball off! Doball jumps back into Shane's guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Doball postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Shane is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Doball, into his guard. Shane postures up and lands a big shot to Doball's brow. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Dave Doball had his way with Jones Shane in that round. That's time! Doball's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Doball being controlled against the cage. Shane tries to land knees in the clinch but Doball avoids the damage to the body. Doball takes a knee to the side of the body. Doball avoiding damage as Shane throws knees to the body.
Doball tries for a takedown but Shane manages to get underhooks.
Doball is working for takedown but Shane is calmly controlling the position for now. Shane cracks Doball with a nice body shot. Jones Shane is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Doball goes for a takedown in the clinch but Shane prevents it.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. A short body shot lands from Shane as the two fighters clinch.
