The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Couture clinches up with McCarthy and pushes him back against the cage.
Couture pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Nice defenses there by McCarthy.
Couture walks into a left hand.
It looks like Handy Couture has been cut.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Couture checks a leg kick.
Couture throws a head kick that half lands.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
A slow jab from McCarthy misses its intended target.
Couture bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
McCarthy throws a leg kick but Couture sees it coming and checks it nicely.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

McCarthy lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Couture uses good head movement to avoid the hook from McCarthy.

and Couture counters with a nice double leg into side control. McCarthy won't be happy with that.
Couture tries to advance to mount but McCarthy denies him.
McCarthy is not content to let Couture control the position.
Couture is breathing heavily.
McCarthy is looking for a sweep.
It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting McCarthy here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.

McCarthy avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Couture.
Couture decides to stand back up. Couture steps back and let's McCarthy get back to his feet.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
McCarthy tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Couture counters by clinching up.
Couture keeps the fight in the clinch, despite McCarthy's efforts to push away.

McCarthy cracks Couture with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
BOOM! McCarthy lands a beautiful left hook that drops Couture. Couture tries to recover but McCarthy is having none of it, landing more punishing shots from mount. One final crushing shot and Couture lies motionless on the canvas. The fight is over!
