Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Paul Smart (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kris Brisbell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Smart's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Billy Talent - Red Flag. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Paul Smart! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Kris Brisbell! The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Yves DeLean and Trevor Gratis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Smart shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Brisbell manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Smart wants to pass the guard but Brisbell is keeping the position. Smart is stalling in the full guard. Brisbell is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Smart stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Brisbell swivels though and keeps the full guard. Smart thows a big elbow that misses. Smart trying to control the position from guard on top but Brisbell is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Brisbell misses with a head kick.
Smart fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Brisbell manages to avoid it. Brisbell goes for a high kick. It partially lands. Brisbell scores with a head kick.
Brisbell doesn't succeed with the takedown and Smart counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Brisbell's guard now. Brisbell trying to control the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Smart controls from within his opponent's guard. Brisbell avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Smart content to stall in guard here. Smart trying to control but Brisbell is working from the bottom.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Smart controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Brisbell is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Smart is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Brisbell wants to control the position but Smart says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard. Smart is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Smart is looking to advance position but Brisbell won't allow it.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Brisbell is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Smart not landing any meaningful shots this time. Smart throwing shots but Brisbell is blocking nicely. Brisbell is staying active underneath Smart, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Brisbell is looking to control Smart's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Brisbell avoid being mounted?
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Brisbell misses with a head kick.
Brisbell swings for the body but Smart moves out of range.

Brisbell throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Smart's head. Brisbell is looking to land body kicks. Brisbell shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Smart counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Smart perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. Smart wants to take a breather but Brisbell is having none of it. Smart thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Brisbell trying to control here but he's found himself mounted! Oh no!

That's one minute gone in the round. Smart takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. A nice elbow there by Smart. Smart has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Brisbell's face.
Brisbell tries to lock up and control but Smart gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Brisbell is desperately trying to improve his position but Smart has a good base and remains in mount. Smart looking to control and managing it successfully.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Brisbell really wants to buck Smart off and get back to his feet. Smart landing shots from mount. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Brisbell taking shots to the head. A nice elbow there by Smart. Smart looking to ground and pound but Brisbell is blocking nicely. Smart wants to control the pace but Brisbell is squirming around nicely.

That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Smart controlling from the full mount. Brisbell is trying to stand up. Brisbell is squirming around, avoiding Smart's attempts to control the action.
The referee stands the fighters back up. Paul Smart just wasn't active enough from the dominant position. Brisbell tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Smart counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Smart with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Paul Smart dominated that second round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!
Smart will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Brisbell closes the distance looking to clinch and Smart counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Brisbell trying to control here but he's found himself mounted! Oh no!
Smart punishing his opponent with strikes. Smart thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage. Brisbell is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Brisbell is looking to get to half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Smart controlling from the full mount. Smart in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
Smart can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Brisbell is looking to escape. Smart lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Smart unloading with bombs! Smart controlling the pace for now. Smart looking to control but Brisbell is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Brisbell wants to try and get back to his feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Smart content just to control the position here. Smart trying to control but he's not successful this time. Brisbell slips a leg in and gets back to half guard. Kris Brisbell has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Smart not landing any meaningful shots this time. Paul Smart is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Brisbell trying to control here.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Smart looking to pass the guard. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Smart postures up.
Smart trying to move into half guard but instead Brisbell has managed to sweep! Brisbell throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Smart lands with a nice combination. Brisbell backs away looking to recover. Brisbell fails with the takedown and Smart counters with a two punch combo.
And that's the end of the fight! Paul Smart showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Smart, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
