Legard's entrance music is Crank That (Travis Barker Remix). A fine choice. van der Val has chosen Finntroll--Födosagan as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Legard takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
No luck for van der Val with that takedown attempt.
Legard throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
van der Val moves forwards but Legard connects with a nice, crisp jab.

and Legard counters with a shoot takedown. van der Val fights it but they end up in guard.

Legard distracts van der Val with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
van der Val thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
van der Val utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Legard wants to control from the top but van der Val keeps moving.
Legard is looking to advance position but van der Val has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!
Legard gets back to half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Legard is looking for a sweep. van der Val is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Legard slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Legard is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

van der Val sitting in guard doing not very much at all here. Legard doesn't need a second invitation though! He's locked up a guillotine and he's squeezing tight! That is tiiiiiiiiight! van der Val paying the price for stalling here - he's pushing hard on the arm trying to free himself but it's no use! He's tapped!
