Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Daniele Vantaggiato (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and David Cruz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters really staring eachother down here, as David Cruz enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cruz looks to throw the jab but Vantaggiato is out of range.

Vantaggiato feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Vantaggiato postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Cruz is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Vantaggiato, into his guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Horrible takedown by Vantaggiato or perhaps it was just good defense by Cruz which made him look bad.

Vantaggiato tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Cruz ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Vantaggiato moves away.
Cruz throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Cruz is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Vantaggiato rather than just go for the knockout.
Vantaggiato wants to clinch.

Cruz throws a low kick, looking for Vantaggiato's leg but Vantaggiato calmly moves out of range.
David Cruz seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Cruz ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Vantaggiato moves away.

Vantaggiato forces Cruz back against the cage and clinches.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Cruz tries to pull guard but Vantaggiato holds him up against the cage and eventually Cruz drops back down to his feet.
A short body shot lands from Vantaggiato as the two fighters clinch.
Cruz looks gassed!

Vantaggiato wants the takedown. Cruz is fighting it off but Vantaggiato persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Cruz's guard against the cage.

Vantaggiato thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Vantaggiato wants to control from the top but Cruz keeps moving.

Vantaggiato gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
No luck for Vantaggiato with that takedown attempt.
A big left from Cruz misses.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Cruz throws a looping overhand right but Vantaggiato ducks down to avoid it.

Cruz is not content to let Vantaggiato control the position.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Cruz can do anything to dispel that myth.

Vantaggiato is working to tighten is grip on Cruz's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Cruz has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Vantaggiato is really squeezing tight and eventually Cruz passes out! Vantaggiato breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
