Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Alex Bosacki! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Marcelo Dourado! The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Matheus Silva and Alexandre Firmino.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Bosacki throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Bosacki gets caught flat footed, as Dourado shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Bosacki avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Bosacki is looking to stand up but Dourado isn't so interested in that idea. Bosacki keeping moving, preventing Dourado from controlling successfully. Dourado stops Bosacki from standing up. Dourado stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Bosacki swivels though and keeps the full guard. Bosacki keeping moving, preventing Dourado from controlling successfully. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Bosacki working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Dourado. Bosacki knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Dourado on the ground.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Bosacki stuffs the takedown. Bosacki misses with a wild combination.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bosacki looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Dourado is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Bosacki's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Bosacki's back! Bosacki is trying to stand back up. Dourado is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.
Dourado is looking for a choke. Bosacki gets to his feet with his opponent on his back and slams him to the mat. Bosacki manages to squirm out of the attempted choke and turns into his opponent's guard. Bosacki avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Bosacki wants to stand but Dourado has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Bosacki lands a couple of decent looking shots. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Dourado looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Bosacki is defending well. Dourado quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Bosacki has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Dourado celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.
