Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Shinya Takata (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jason Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Shinya Takata! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
9 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jason Johnson! The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Johnson moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross. Johnson takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Johnson lunges at Takata with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Takata's hand. Takata misses with a looping right. Takata scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Donk. Takata catches Johnson right on the button with a cross. Johnson clinches. Johnson has Takata pressed against the cage, preventing Takata from circling away and getting back to striking at range. Takata has had enough of the clinch but Johnson keeps him there for the moment. That's two minutes gone in the round. Johnson ducks right into an uppercut from Takata. Johnson misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Shinya Takata seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Johnson checks the leg kick. Takata throws a leg kick but Johnson moved away. Takata looks to land a right hand but Johnson moved out of range. Takata bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Johnson's head. Takata darts in and out, connecting with a jab. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Johnson moves in looking to clinch but Takata pushes him off. Johnson closes the distance and clinches. Takata looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now. Johnson keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Takata's efforts to push away. Johnson escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Takata fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Johnson checks it well. Takata throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Takata is defended easily by Johnson. Takata shoots in for a takedown but Johnson shows good takedown defense. Johnson tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Takata was well out of range. Poor timing from Johnson. Takata lands with a thumping leg kick.
Johnson doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. Takata is really peppering his opponent's head with punches. Johnson scores with a nice right hand.
Johnson throws a combination that misses and Takata counters with a straight right hand. Takata thuds a left hand into Johnson's body. Johnson throws a head kick that misses. Takata cracks Johnson with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Takata bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut. Horrible takedown by Takata or perhaps it was just good defense by Johnson which made him look bad. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Shinya Takata. That's going to take a lot out of him. Johnson takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it. Takata lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
This has been an exciting period of action! Johnson swings away with a body shot that misses
letting Takata counter with a right hand. Johnson uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Takata. Takata connects with the punch. Johnson misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Takata misses with a wild body shot. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Johnson misses with a two punch combination.
A nice leg kick lands there from Johnson. Takata shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Johnson pinned against the cage. Johnson gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Shinya Takata dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Johnson avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Johnson thows a body shot but no joy. Takata changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Johnson tries to avoid it but Takata manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Johnson to the ground. Johnson escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Takata with a body punch. A glancing blow. Takata lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Jab, jab by Takata - just one landing. Takata takes a swing at Johnson's ribcage but misses. Takata throws a leg kick that is checked and Johnson counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. Takata is looking to chop away at Johnson's legs. Johnson throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
That's one minute gone in the round. Takata misses with a hook. Shinya Takata is winning the standup battle so far. Johnson bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Takata throws a low kick but Johnson avoids it. Johnson has managed to clinch.
Johnson tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Johnson pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Takata misses with a straight left. Johnson scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
It looks like Shinya Takata has been cut. Takata misses with the combination.
Johnson needs to keep his hands up - Takata had a free shot at his head there. Takata thuds his right hand into Johnson's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters. Johnson shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Johnson showed some decent athleticism there. Takata wants to get back to his feet.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Johnson is trying to control the action in half guard but Takata is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Johnson thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Takata's head. Johnson thows a huge punch but Takata dodges it nicely.
Johnson thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Johnson is looking to take a break and control but Takata is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Takata pushes Johnson off looking to stand but Johnson dives back in and keeps control.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Johnson throws a left and a right that both miss
enabling Takata to counter with a crisp jab. Johnson tries to clinch up. A punch lands to the side of Johnson 's head but he takes it in his stride. Johnson gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Takata throwing strikes from guard but Johnson blocks nicely. Takata throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Johnson works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Takata looking to sit in guard and control but Johnson gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Johnson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Takata swivels though and keeps the full guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Takata here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man. Johnson stops Takata from standing up. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Johnson trying to control but Takata is working from the bottom.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Takata lands a nice shot to the body.

The fighters circling - Takata throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Johnson leaves Takata with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Johnson takes a body punch but keeps moving. Takata is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Johnson can do to turn this around? Takata misses with a hook. Johnson ducked under it nicely. Takata misses with a leg kick and Johnson counters with a nice body kick. Johnson takes one to the side of the head.

Takata looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Johnson is fending him off so far but Takata persists. Nope, Johnson circles away and we're back to standing. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Shinya Takata. That's going to take a lot out of him. Johnson has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him. Takata looks to land a right hand but Johnson moved out of range. Takata throws a leg kick and Johnson cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Takata crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Johnson - the referee stops the clock and Takata gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Johnson. Takata manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes. Johnson cracks Takata with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Johnson rushes Takata and presses him up against the cage. Takata takes a knee to the side of the body. Johnson breaks from the clinch.
Takata fails to land the takedown. The fight moves into the clinch position. Takata tries to break free but Johnson pushes him back against the cage. Johnson has Takata pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Johnson pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Takata tumbling to the mat - Johnson dives into Takata's guard. Takata wants to sweep but no luck. Takata pushes Johnson off and gets back to his feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Takata throws a predictable looking body shot
and Johnson counters with a nice double leg into side control. Takata won't be happy with that. Takata gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. Johnson wants to pass to mount but Takata is defending the position. Johnson is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Johnson stops Takata from getting back to his feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Takata is looking for a sweep. Johnson is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Johnson wants to pass to mount but Takata is defending the position.

And that's the end of the fight! Jason Johnson comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Takata has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
