Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Chuck Liddell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shawne Merriman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Liddell comes into the arena with Crying Like a Bitch blaring out of the sound system. Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Chuck Liddell! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Shawne Merriman! The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Liddell lands a right hook to the body.
Liddell fails to land with a series of punches.
Liddell clobbers Merriman with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Liddell fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Merriman, pushing him back against the cage. Liddell breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Liddell keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Liddell doesn't manage to clinch there - Merriman circles away.
Chuck Liddell seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Merriman takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
It looks like Shawne Merriman has been cut. A big head kick from Liddell and Merriman is sent sprawling to the canvas! Liddell decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Merriman will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Liddell throws a sloppy head kick and Merriman moves out of range easily. Merriman takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Good work by Merriman as he checks the leg kick. Liddell lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Merriman circles away quickly and effectively.
That's one minute gone in the round. Liddell scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. Liddell displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination. Merriman looks gassed! Liddell listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut. Liddell checks a leg kick nicely. Liddell stalks Merriman and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Merriman's face. Merriman staggers backwards, shaken. Merriman shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Liddell defends it nicely. Chuck Liddell has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Shawne Merriman. Nice sprawl there from Liddell as Merriman shoots in. Liddell misses with a series of wild punches.

and Liddell counters with a one-two to the body. Liddell rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Merriman moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Merriman closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Merriman stalling. Merriman seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Liddell is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Merriman scores with a couple of nice shots. Liddell on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Liddell tries to get out of the position. Merriman not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Merriman maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Liddell could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Merriman has cracked it and Liddell is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Merriman!
