Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between raizo the mantis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mondo Davidson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Davidson has chosen The Sounds-Beat Box as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, raizo the mantis! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Mondo Davidson! The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Yves DeLean and Ian Loll.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! the mantis tests Davidson's chin there with a solid looking shot. Davidson looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Davidson perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. the mantis wants to get back to his feet.
the mantis has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Davidson is working away from the top position though. the mantis is trying to get back to full guard. the mantis trying to control but Davidson postures up.
the mantis tries to roll over but Davidson keeps him under control. the mantis wants to control the action here but instead Davidson manages to pass to full mount!
That's one minute gone in the round. the mantis wants to hold on but Davidson pushes him away. the mantis can't escape the position.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. the mantis tries to lock up and control but Davidson gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. the mantis is looking to get to half guard. Davidson avoids the attempt from the mantis to control. the mantis keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Davidson wants to control the pace but the mantis is squirming around nicely. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Davidson controlling the position easily from mount. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. the mantis manages to regain half guard. Good work. the mantis slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. the mantis is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. the mantis is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Davidson slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Davidson working away. the mantis is trying to escape and get back to his feet. the mantis manages to work his way to half guard, despite Davidson's best efforts. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. the mantis gets back to full guard.
Davidson looks gassed! There's a bit of a scramble here and now the mantis is on top in guard.

A close round but Mondo Davidson will probably get the nod. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
the mantis tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Davidson was well out of range. Poor timing from the mantis. the mantis throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
the mantis bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut. the mantis throws the kick towards the body but Davidson avoids it. Davidson shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. the mantis gets full guard. Davidson won't allow the mantis to sweep him here. Davidson trying to control the position from guard on top but the mantis is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Davidson is breathing heavily. the mantis looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
That's one minute gone in the round. the mantis is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Davidson preventing the sweep. Davidson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. the mantis swivels though and keeps the full guard. the mantis wants to stand up but Davidson is controlling him.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. the mantis misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Davidson.
the mantis throws a right hand that Davidson ducks under and follows up with a left that Davidson also avoids with ease. Davidson takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Davidson slips a jab and a cross from the mantis.
the mantis fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. the mantis is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Davidson's half guard. the mantis looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Davidson with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. the mantis is working for a submission of some sort.
the mantis is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
That's three minutes gone in the round. the mantis is trying to work for a kimura but Davidson is defending well.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. the mantis is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Davidson has escaped the position, nice work there. the mantis landing with strikes to the head and body from side control. the mantis wants to lay and pray for a moment but Davidson keeps working. the mantis working the body and head with strikes. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
raizo the mantis dominated that second round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!
the mantis fails with the takedown. Davidson wants to clinch up but the mantis keeps it at a distance. the mantis has his takedown stuffed and Davidson counters with a takedown into side control. the mantis is trying to control Davidson's posture but Davidson avoids it. Davidson content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though. the mantis is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Davidson's leg. He's managed it. Nice work. Davidson takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

the mantis tries to land a sweep but no joy. Davidson wants to control from the top but the mantis keeps moving. the mantis looking to hit a scissor sweep but Davidson is one step ahead there. the mantis is trying to control the position but Davidson postures up. the mantis wants to sweep here but Davidson controlling him for the moment. the mantis will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. the mantis striking off his back but it's not causing Davidson any problems.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Davidson gets caught flat footed, as the mantis shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. the mantis drops back looking for a leg! Davidson is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Davidson manages to kick the mantis off! the mantis jumps back into Davidson's guard. Davidson keeping full guard, as the mantis tries to pass. the mantis is working hard here to advance position. the mantis pushing down on Davidson's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
