Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Diego Coghi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Franco Gonzales (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gonzales has chosen Renegade as his entrance music. Franco Gonzales acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Diego Coghi! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Franco Gonzales! The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Mauricio Rocha and Paulo Santos.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gonzales fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Coghi checks it well. Coghi misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Coghi throws a right hand that Gonzales ducks under and follows up with a left that Gonzales also avoids with ease. Coghi throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Gonzales clinches up with Coghi and pushes him back against the cage. Coghi wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Coghi can't break the clinch.

Gonzales shoots in for a takedown but Coghi shows good takedown defense. Coghi tries a head kick but it misses.
Gonzales closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Gonzales throwing shots but Coghi is blocking nicely. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Gonzales decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up. Coghi swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Gonzales fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Coghi, pushing him back against the cage. Gonzales has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Coghi is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Coghi is trying to break free. Coghi wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Gonzales has him pressed against the cage. Coghi is trying to break the clinch but Gonzales has him pressed against the cage. Coghi is looking to break free of the clinch but Gonzales has double underhooks. Gonzales wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Coghi is working for takedown but Gonzales is calmly controlling the position for now. Gonzales stops a takedown attempt from Coghi.
Coghi is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Gonzales pulls him back up using the underhooks. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Diego Coghi. That's going to take a lot out of him. Coghi is breathing heavily. Gonzales is trying to break the clinch but Coghi has him pressed against the cage. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Gonzales decides to stand back up. Gonzales steps back and let's Coghi get back to his feet. A cross from Coghi lands. Gonzales bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut. Diego Coghi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Coghi throws a left and a right that both miss
and Gonzales counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Coghi has one foot on Gonzales's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Coghi misses with a wild combination.

Gonzales looks to land a combination but Coghi avoids it well. Coghi rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Gonzales moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Coghi wants to clinch up but Gonzales keeps it at a distance. Coghi instigates a clinch. Coghi can't break the clinch.

A punch combination from Coghi misses. Coghi throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Gonzales.
Gonzales is rocked! Coghi throws a combination. Gonzales tries to block but a couple of punches get through. Gonzales is still on wobbly legs! Can Coghi finish him? Gonzales avoids the head kick by Coghi.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Coghi rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Gonzales moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Coghi clinches. Gonzales is trying to break the clinch but Coghi has him pressed against the cage. Coghi gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Gonzales regains guard.
Coghi stands up and waves to Gonzales to follow him. Coghi gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Coghi breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Coghi tries to close the distance and clinch but Gonzales swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Gonzales tries to clinch there but Coghi circles away.
Coghi fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Gonzales sprawls well initially but Coghi persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Gonzales moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Coghi stands up from guard. Let's bang! Gonzales seems to have recovered his senses. Coghi throws a nice looking combination but Gonzales bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Coghi throws a hook to the side of Gonzales's head but Gonzales sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Coghi drives through with a takedown into guard. Gonzales looking to hit a scissor sweep but Coghi is one step ahead there. Gonzales is working an open guard so Coghi takes the opportunity to get back to his feet. Gonzales throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gonzales drives through with a takedown into guard. Gonzales must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Gonzales stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Coghi swivels though and keeps the full guard. Gonzales postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. Gonzales throws and elbow that misses. Coghi uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Gonzales's guard. Nice move by Coghi! Gonzales preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Gonzales striking from the bottom here. Gonzales wants to get back to his feet but Coghi is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Coghi decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Gonzales closes the distance looking to clinch and Coghi counters with a head kick. Gonzales closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Gonzales lands a nice short elbow. Gonzales slips a nice elbow through Coghi's hands, connecting with Coghi's forehead.
Coghi is rocked! Gonzales working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Oh Coghi is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Gonzales lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Gonzales looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Coghi with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Coghi has hold of Gonzales's hands but Gonzales slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Gonzales is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Gonzales slips a nice elbow through Coghi's hands, connecting with Coghi's forehead. Ground and pound from Gonzales. Gonzales working over Coghi with some ground and pound. Coghi looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Gonzales stands up from half guard. Gonzales connects with a stiff jab that staggers Coghi - oh and he follows up with a huge uppercut that knocks him out cold! Man, that was brutal!
