The bell rings for round one and we are underway! HARPER misses with a body shot.
Meningitis shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Meningitis was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Meningitis prevents HARPER from getting the reversal. Meningitis has control of HARPER's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and HARPER regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Meningitis avoids the attempt from HARPER to control. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. HARPER might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Meningitis working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet. HARPER is desperately trying to improve his position but Meningitis has a good base and remains in mount. Meningitis moves to back control. Meningitis is persistently looking for the submission but HARPER is defending it well.
Meningitis looks gassed! HARPER looking to stop the rear naked choke attempt by controlling the hands. HARPER knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Meningitis on the ground.
That's one minute gone in the round. Meningitis gets his hands free as HARPER looks to control. HARPER defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Meningitis's arms. HARPER controlling the position well but he knows he's in a bad position. HARPER really is a fat lump. Meningitis is trying to stick to HARPER's back but HARPER is turning into Meningitis. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Meningitis's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by HARPER. Meningitis keeping moving, preventing HARPER from controlling successfully. Meningitis is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. HARPER trying to control the position from guard on top but Meningitis is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Meningitis is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Meningitis has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can HARPER defend it? Meningitis steps over the head and cranks it - HARPER is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Meningitis!
