Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, guto salles! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Julian Reis! The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Alexandre Firmino and Mauricio Rocha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! salles tries to clinch but Reis moves out of range. Jeez, both these guys look absolutely knackered already, that's not a good sign! No luck with that takedown attempt from Reis. salles leaves Reis with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. salles fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Reis, pushing him back against the cage. salles scores with a knee to the head.
It looks like Julian Reis has been cut. salles breaks the clinch.
salles dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Reis. That did some damage! salles tries to clinch there but Reis circles away.

Reis fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but salles avoids it really well and circles away. guto salles has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Julian Reis.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Reis avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Reis decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Reis is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
salles has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Reis is working away from the top position though. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Reis seems to be working for a kimura but salles defends the submission attempt.

salles knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Reis on the ground. Reis is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Reis is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and salles defends it well. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that guto salles will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Julian Reis's cut. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Reis is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so salles is just riding it out for now. Reis eventually gives up the hold. salles is looking to control Reis's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can salles avoid being mounted?
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Reis has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount. salles tries to lock up and control but Reis gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Reis is going olschool here, as he tries to force salles to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so salles shrugs it off. salles tries to hold on but Reis postures up. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. salles defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Reis. salles is flailing around, obviously not happy about being mounted. Reis locks hold of one of his arms and spins for an armbar. He's got it! salles is forced to tap!
