PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between sonu stylz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Zack Mafusa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Zack Mafusa!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Damien Edna and Skip Squint.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mafusa shoots in and drives through. stylz sprawls well.
Mafusa lands a high kick!
stylz gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Mafusa holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
stylz keeps control of Mafusa as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Mafusa is trying to drag stylz to the mat but stylz just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
stylz wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
stylz is pressed up against the cage. Mafusa has hold of a leg and is looking to drag stylz down to the mat. stylz avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
sonu stylz has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Zack Mafusa.
stylz will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Mafusa stuffs the takedown.

Mafusa gets a clinch.

stylz scores with a punch to the head.
stylz closes the distance looking to clinch

and Mafusa counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in stylz's guard now.

Mafusa decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
stylz lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
Mafusa jabbing away but nothing is landing.

and Mafusa holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Mafusa jumps guard and drags stylz to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Mafusa wants to sweep here but stylz controlling him for the moment.

stylz tries to pass the half guard into mount. Mafusa knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

and Mafusa decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in stylz's guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Mafusa wants to lay and pray for a moment but stylz keeps working.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Mafusa tries to clinch
and stylz counters with a one-two to the body.
Mafusa shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as stylz sprawls well. stylz wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Mafusa gets slowly back to his feet.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
stylz swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Mafusa.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Zack Mafusa dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Mafusa tries a head kick but it misses.
The fight stays on the outside here - stylz looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Mafusa decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
stylz is trying to maintain the position but Mafusa is very close to passing his half guard.
Mafusa is trying to control the action in half guard but stylz is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mafusa is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Mafusa wants to lay and pray for a moment but stylz keeps working.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
stylz lands a jab-cross combination.

Mafusa throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. stylz was covering up waiting for the punch and Mafusa finishes the takedown easily into guard.
stylz has control of Mafusa's left arm, preventing Mafusa from doing any damage.

Mafusa wants to control from the top but stylz keeps moving.

stylz is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Mafusa dives into side control.

Mafusa stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Mafusa turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!

Mafusa decides to stand back up. Mafusa steps back and let's stylz get back to his feet.
stylz doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Mafusa counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. stylz is lucky that one didn't land flush.

and Mafusa counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Zack Mafusa showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! And we move into the final round!

Mafusa shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches stylz napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Mafusa misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

Mafusa has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

With the fighters up against the cage, Mafusa throws an elbow but misses.
stylz goes for a takedown in the clinch but Mafusa prevents it.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Mafusa is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but stylz is keeping busy.

Mafusa decides to pull guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Mafusa is on top in guard.

stylz is looking to stand up but Mafusa isn't so interested in that idea.

stylz not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Mafusa slips nicely into half guard, despite the strikes coming from stylz.

Zack Mafusa has got the better of the ground game so far.
stylz wants to get back to full guard but Mafusa has mounted him!

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Mafusa prevents stylz from getting the reversal.
sonu stylz has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Zack Mafusa is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Mafusa postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. stylz looks a forlorn figure.
