The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sheapard shoots for a takedown but Plotka saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Plotka gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Plotka is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Plotka has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Sheapard can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Sheapard shoots for a takedown but Plotka saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Plotka looking to break Sheapard's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Sheapard remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Plotka will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Sheapard can't escape the position.
Plotka controlling the position well here. Sheapard rolled but Plotka kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.
Plotka's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

You can see the frustration on Sheapard's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Plotka is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.
Plotka punishes Sheapard with strikes from the back mount.
So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.
Plotka connects with a big shot to the side of Sheapard's head.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Plotka stands up and waves to Sheapard to follow him.

Sheapard chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Plotka can pounce on him.
A head kick misses from Sheapard.
Plotka misses with a straight left.
Plotka shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Sheapard sprawls well. Sheapard wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Plotka gets slowly back to his feet.

Plotka seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
