PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Yager Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jon Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jackson comes to the cage accompanied by Till I Collapse. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Yager Jackson!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jon Jones!
The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Bruno Lombardi and David Schapiro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jackson throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Jackson jabs at Jones's body.

Jackson rushes Jones and presses him up against the cage.

Jackson turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Jackson manages to end up in side control.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Jones looks gassed!
Jackson just content to control the position.
Jones takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Jones regains half guard there - taking advantage of Jackson's attempt to lay and pray for a moment.
Jackson stops Jones from getting back to his feet.
Well, if Jackson is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Jackson is looking to advance position but Jones won't allow it.

Jackson is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Jones sees it coming and defends easily.
Jackson is figuring out what he wants to do next.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Jones can do anything to dispel that myth.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Jackson wants to take a breather but Jones is having none of it.
Jackson wants to pass the guard but Jones is defending well.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Jackson rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Jones moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Jones wants to stand and escape but Jackson is having none of it.
Jackson is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Jackson is taking a breather. Jones says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Jones wants to control but Jackson is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Jackson moves into full mount! Jones won't be happy about that!

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Jackson rushes Jones and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Jackson breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

and Jackson counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Jones wants to control but Jackson is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Jackson winds up and cracks Jones with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Jackson lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Jones is looking to escape.
Jackson is keen to just control but Jones is a slippery customer.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Jackson trying to control the action but Jones is working from the bottom.

Jones is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but Jackson is staying active.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Jackson closes the distance and clinches.
Jones gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Jackson.

Jackson has hold of one of Jones's legs. Jones is fighting the takedown attempt but Jackson gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Jackson fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Jones sprawls well initially but Jackson persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Jones tries to kick Jackson off in order to stand up. Jackson Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Jackson wants to control for a moment but Jones uses the opportunity to move back to half guard.
Jones wants to improve his position but Jackson is controlling well.
Jackson wants to advance to full mount but Jones doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.

Jones is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Jackson is controlling him.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Jackson postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Jones is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Jackson wants to control from the top but Jones keeps moving.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Jackson stands and throws Jones's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Jackson shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Jones is trying to defend but Jackson finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Jones is trying to escape back to his feet but Jackson uses the scramble to pass into side control.

Jackson has hold of Jones's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Jones seems comfortable defending it but Jackson has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Jones is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Jones is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Jackson couldn't care less - he's delighted!
