Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Joshua Sewell! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Alistair Porttikongi! The judges for this bout are George Francis, Daniel Franklin and Robert Twigg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Porttikongi rushes Sewell and presses him up against the ropes. Sewell has had enough of the clinch but Porttikongi keeps him there for the moment. Porttikongi lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards. Porttikongi lands on the inside with an uppercut. Sewell tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Porttikongi just stands there and leans against the ropes. The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch. Porttikongi scores with a shoulder strike.
It looks like Joshua Sewell has been cut. Sewell could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Porttikongi lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage. Porttikongi is trying to trip Sewell. He has hold of a leg but Sewell is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Porttikongi persists though and gets the takedown into guard. Porttikongi is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Sewell trying to keep a closed guard but Porttikongi is proving a slippery customer.
Porttikongi forces his way into half guard. Sewell tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land. Porttikongi moves into full mount! Sewell won't be happy about that! Sewell is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Porttikongi sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Porttikongi is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Sewell to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Sewell shrugs it off. Porttikongi takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Sewell tries to buck Porttikongi off but he can't manage it. Sewell might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Porttikongi content just to control the position here. Sewell wants to control but Porttikongi is having none of it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Sewell bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done! Porttikongi manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Sewell is breathing heavily. Sewell is working to get back to half guard.
Porttikongi has hold of Sewell's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Sewell manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Porttikongi takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Porttikongi moves to the back position. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. I would not like to be Sewell right now.
Porttikongi looking for the choke but no joy.
That's four minutes gone in the round. So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.
Sewell fending off the submission attempt from Porttikongi. Sewell defending nicely against the rear naked choke attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Alistair Porttikongi dominated that round. The cut man is working on Joshua Sewell's cut. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Porttikongi tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Porttikongi fails in his attempt to clinch. Porttikongi has Sewell up against the ropes in a clinch.
Porttikongi lands with a left to the head. Sewell goes for a takedown in the clinch but Porttikongi prevents it.
Sewell drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
A short body shot lands from Porttikongi as the two fighters clinch.
Porttikongi has picked Sewell up - he's going for a ride! Porttikongi dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard. Porttikongi is controlling the pace.
Porttikongi uses his free foot to push down on Sewell's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Sewell. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Porttikongi content just to control the position here. Porttikongi has isolated one of Sewell's arms. Sewell looking to fight him off but Porttikongi twists into an armbar. It's tight... Will he tap?? YES, he's tapped! This one is all over!
