Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Manson Wright (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ryan Edward (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Wright might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to The Distillers - Drain the Blood. Ryan Edward will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Manson Wright! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ryan Edward! The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Gwen Towbar and Cecil Peabody.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Edward's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Edward duly obliges. Wright swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Edward misses with a wild combination.
Wright gets a takedown into half guard. Wright not landing any meaningful shots this time. Edward won't allow Wright to pass to mount. Wright trying to control the action but Edward is working from the bottom. Wright wants to work for an arm triangle but Edward is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
The fighters are battling for position here. Edward manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Edward is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
That's one minute gone in the round. Wright trying to control but Edward is working from the bottom. Wright might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Wright misses with a takedown attempt - Edward sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Edward thuds a left hand into Wright's body. Wright is breathing heavily. Edward has closed the distance and engaged Wright in a clinch.
Edward manages to break the clinch.
Edward moves into range and clinches up with Wright. Nice body punch from Edward. Wright is fighting off a takedown attempt but Edward is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Wright to the mat. Wright regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Edward stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Wright swivels though and keeps the full guard. Edward content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Wright can't keep his opponent in guard - Edward advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Edward wants to work for an arm triangle but Wright is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Edward winds up and cracks Wright with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Edward wants to control but Wright is keeping him busy. Edward sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Wright defending well though. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Edward working the head and body with strikes. Edward content to control rather than advance. Edward thows a huge punch but Wright dodges it nicely.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Edward wants to control but Wright is keeping him busy. Edward stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being. Edward delivers a nice body kick. Wright is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Edward. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Edward scores with a slapping inside leg kick. Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Edward!
Edward darts in and clinches Wright up against the ropes. Wright could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Edward breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Edward shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away. Wright tries to lock up and control but Edward gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Wright defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Edward. Edward goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Wright turns into him and now he's in Edward's guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Wright wants to pass the guard but Edward is keeping the position. Wright trying to stand up but can't free himself from Edward's guard. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Edward is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Edward is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Ryan Edward dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Edward misses with a takedown and Wright counters with a shoot takedown. Edward fights it but they end up in guard. Wright drops back looking for a leg! Edward is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Edward manages to kick Wright off! Wright jumps back into Edward's guard. Wright wanted to stand there but Edward had control of the position. Edward managing to control the position. Wright thows a big elbow that misses. Ryan Edward has got the better of the ground game so far.
That's one minute gone in the round. Wright stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Edward swivels though and keeps the full guard. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Wright preventing the sweep. Wright prevents Edward from getting back to his feet. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Edward is on top in guard.
Edward throws a strike but Wright rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Wright is looking to work some ground and pound but Edward has wrist control. Edward looking to hit a scissor sweep but Wright is one step ahead there.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Wright trying to stand up but can't free himself from Edward's guard. Wright throwing strikes from guard but Edward blocks nicely. Edward is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. Edward wants to stand but Wright is controlling the position.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Edward moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Edward throws a left and a right that both miss
and Wright counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Wright. Edward is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Wright in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Wright wanted to stand there but Edward had control of the position. Edward is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Wright is controlling him. Wright wants to pass the guard but Edward is keeping the position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Wright tries to stand but Edward is controlling from the bottom. Edward bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Wright's guard. Edward trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Edward pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Wright is keeping the position for now. Edward stands up and waves to Wright to follow him. Edward moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Edward fails with the takedown. Edward looks to land a combination. Wright sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Ryan Edward showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!
Edward fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Wright, pushing him back against the ropes. Edward with the Thai clinch, lands a knee to the head. Edward has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Wright uses from the top position. Wright prevents Edward from getting back to his feet. Wright wants to control from the top but Edward keeps moving. Wright in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Wright lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Wright is standing up over Edward. Edward looks to escape but Wright dives into side control.
Wright tries to land with some ground and pound but misses. Edward is looking for a sweep.
That's one minute gone in the round. Wright wants to control but Edward is keeping him busy. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Wright wants to take a breather but Edward manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Wright. Edward working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Wright. Wright trying to control but Edward is working from the bottom. Edward has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Wright tries to stand but Edward is controlling from the bottom.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Edward has closed the distance and engaged Wright in a clinch.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Wright tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Edward's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Edward throws a combination. Wright tries to block but a couple of punches get through. Edward scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Edward rushes Wright and pushes him back against the ropes in a clinch. Edward escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Edward closes the distance and lands a one-two. A combination from Edward does no damage. Edward dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Wright. That did some damage! Edward scores with a nice right hand.
Edward scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Wright wants to get back to full guard. Edward lands with a punch from half guard. Edward is thwarting Wright's attempts to control the position. Edward really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Wright. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Edward not landing any meaningful shots this time.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Edward thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Wright's head. Edward gets to his feet - back to striking we go! Edward stuns Wright with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range. Edward lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Edward. Danga de danga de dang - Edward scores with a four punch combination! Edward fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Wright. Edward throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Wright was covering up waiting for the punch and Edward finishes the takedown easily into guard. Edward controls from within his opponent's guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Wright wants to get back to his feet but Edward is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Wright looking for a sweep. Not yet Wright, not yet. Edward trying to control the position from guard on top but Wright is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Edward with a flurry of punches that miss. Manson Wright has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Edward drops back looking for a leg! Wright is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Wright manages to kick Edward off! Edward jumps back into Wright's guard. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Edward gets to his feet - Wright follows without any prompting.
And that's the end of the fight! Ryan Edward comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Edward has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
