Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Cameron Stevenson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jay Trainertoo! The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Russell Pearce and John Kavanagh.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Stevenson drives through with a takedown into guard. Trainertoo keeping full guard, as Stevenson tries to pass. Trainertoo preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Stevenson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Trainertoo swivels though and keeps the full guard. Trainertoo is looking for a triangle but Stevenson pushes his legs off easily.
Stevenson got a little sloppy there for a moment and Trainertoo has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Stevenson has managed to get both his arms back between Trainertoo's legs - danger averted. Trainertoo keeping full guard, as Stevenson tries to pass. Stevenson is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Trainertoo is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Trainertoo has escaped and now he's on top!
That's one minute gone in the round. Stevenson trying to keep a closed guard but Trainertoo is proving a slippery customer.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Trainertoo thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Stevenson looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Stevenson had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Trainertoo defends it easily. Trainertoo slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Stevenson wants to control but Trainertoo postures up. Trainertoo tries for a kimura but Stevenson is defending well. Stevenson can't do much from the bottom here. Stevenson manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! Stevenson tries to pass to full mount but Trainertoo defends it. Stevenson seems to be working for a kimura but Trainertoo defends the submission attempt.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Trainertoo is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Stevenson pulls his head out easily. Trainertoo looks gassed! Stevenson missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Stevenson is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Trainertoo has managed to free his arm - good work. Trainertoo looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Stevenson is working for a submission of some sort.
Trainertoo won't allow Stevenson to pass to mount. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Stevenson tries to score a power double leg takedown but Trainertoo sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Stevenson somewhat. Stevenson is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Trainertoo's half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Cameron Stevenson dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Stevenson throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Trainertoo was covering up waiting for the punch and Stevenson finishes the takedown easily into guard. Stevenson wants to control from the top but Trainertoo keeps moving. Stevenson is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Trainertoo is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Trainertoo has escaped and now he's on top! Trainertoo preventing the sweep.
That's one minute gone in the round. Stevenson controls Trainertoo momentarily but Trainertoo frees himself. Trainertoo thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Stevenson escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Trainertoo gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Stevenson throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Trainertoo escapes and throws Stevenson's legs to the side, diving into side control! Trainertoo is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Stevenson looks calm but he's in trouble here. Trainertoo gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Stevenson is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Trainertoo lets go of the hold and Stevenson can pop his arm back in it's socket.
