The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kowashaki avoids a strike by Kovakanki and manages to complete a very nice reversal in the process, to end up in Kovakanki's guard! Fantastic escape!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Taisto Kovakanki dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Kovakanki closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Kovakanki closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Kovakanki lands in his opponent's guard.
Kovakanki won't allow Kowashaki to get back to his feet.
Kovakanki is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Kowashaki utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

and Kovakanki connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Kowashaki prevents Kovakanki from breaking the clinch.
Kovakanki prevents the takedown attempt.

Kovakanki jumps into guard, dragging Kowashaki to the mat.
Kovakanki is controlling Kowashaki's posture.
Kovakanki's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Kovakanki should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Kovakanki has his feet on Kowashaki's thighs here. He's pushed Kowashaki off and worked for a very quick armbar from the bottom! He's flipped onto his stomach and he's cranking hard on the arm! Kowashaki screams in pain and taps out! This one is all over!
