Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jack Unterweger! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Sam Benton! The judges for this bout are , Jack Bonds and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Benton fails to land the takedown. Benton shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Unterweger but Unterweger pushes him off and we're back to square one. Jack Unterweger seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Unterweger swinging wilding here.
Unterweger throws a head kick but Benton moves out of range.
Unterweger tries to bum rush Benton with a series of wild strikes but Benton uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Unterweger misses with a takedown and Benton counters with a shoot takedown. Unterweger fights it but they end up in guard. Benton advances position into side control! Benton tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Benton has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Unterweger is pushing Benton's head away, looking to escape. Benton manages to hold on to the position though. Benton working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Unterweger wants to get back to his feet. Benton wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Unterweger, who protects the arm well. Unterweger manages to work his way to half guard, despite Benton's best efforts. Unterweger actively working from the bottom here. Unterweger is breathing heavily. Unterweger wants to improve his position but Benton is controlling well.
Unterweger is trying to stand back up but Benton is controlling him
Benton is looking to advance position but Unterweger won't allow it. Benton uses his free foot to push down on Unterweger's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Unterweger. Unterweger is trying to stand. Unterweger has given up his back. Will we see Benton going for some submissions?
Benton is working for a rear naked choke. Unterweger is not defending it well and Benton has tightened it up quickly! This could be all over! Unterweger refuses to tap and goes to sleep, forcing the referee to intervene. A little trickle of blood came out of Unterweger's nose as his head slumped to the floor. That is naaaasty!
