Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ferdinand Marcos! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Guts Anderson! The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Ren Mimura and Shigeki Fujiwara.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A punch combination from Marcos misses. Marcos drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Marcos prevents Anderson from escaping the position. Marcos gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. Marcos punching from the bottom.
Marcos looking for submissions from an awkward position here. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Marcos is trying to get back to full guard. Anderson is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Marcos manages to get to full guard.
Marcos has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Anderson wants to control from the top but Marcos keeps moving. Marcos wants to sweep here but Anderson controlling him for the moment. Marcos has a closed guard, preventing Anderson from standing up.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Anderson misses with a series of wild punches.
Marcos misses with a double jab.
That's one minute gone in the round. Marcos takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards. Anderson drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles. Anderson lands a front kick. Anderson tries to clinch but Marcos is having none of it. Marcos moves out of range as Anderson throws a body kick.
Marcos goes for a high kick. It partially lands. Both fighters circling a little - Anderson finishes the exchange with a kick to the body. Anderson lets loose with a powerful body kick. Marcos will feel that in the morning. Marcos throws a right and a left that Anderson avoids nicely. Anderson looks to land a body kick but Marcos moved away. Anderson fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. Marcos looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Anderson! Marcos lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Anderson is trying desperately to improve position. Marcos avoids the attempt from Anderson to control. The referee warns Anderson that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Marcos working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Anderson turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Marcos off and cradles Anderson's limp body as Marcos celebrates with his corner.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:03 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Anaconda Choke). Ferdinand Marcos!
